Article source: Studio MWA

“Beautiful” – Bach (holiday home) in New Zealand’s Marlborough Sounds at Bay of Many Coves . Quite often at the start of the Design process, after we have had a chance to talk to the client and experience the site for the first time, you ask yourself should we do anything to the existing site, or should the beautiful natural environment remain as it is?

Wairau Valley House in Rapaura, New Zealand by Parsonson Architects

Monday, February 18th, 2013

Article source: Parsonson Architects

The property is located in the Wairau Valley, 10 minutes from Blenheim and close to the Wairau River as it snakes along the edge of the northern hills, a patterned rural landscape of farms, orchards and vineyards. The house has a strong connection to the land spatially and materially. There is a sense of encampment, where different interlinked pavilions offer different areas of occupation and Privacy or openness.

S House in Auckland, New Zealand by Glamuzina Paterson Architects

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Article source: Glamuzina Paterson Architects

The parti of S_House divides the long thin lot into two gardens, challenging the conventional diagram of the front and back yard of the typical suburban house. The house becomes the active space between the gardens, and offers the occupants multiple views and sectional level changes as they move through the site.

No.8 Wire Residence in Otago, New Zealand by Jonathan Gibb – Architect

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

Article source: Jonathan Gibb – Architect

The Concept: No.8 Wire is a paper architecture exploratory analysis of what constitutes the form and idea of a home relative to the landscape of Central Otago NZ. Three types of spatial devices create and inform the architecture, that of solid, transparency and void. The two gabled volumes sit mirrored, off-set and self referential, bared to all, lost within the expanse of the landscape. The aesthetic is a bold foray of form placed in conversant to its surroundings. Its use is a signifier of the NZ concept of resourcefulness and creativity; best described as a kiwi’s ingenuity and adaptability.

Dulieu Residence – PARATIHO in Upper Hutt, New Zealand by Studio MWA

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012

Article source: Studio MWA – Studio Mikulcic Worldwide Architecture

The House has 3 double bedrooms with a studio. The Main Master bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. House includes 3 individual living areas, and a triple garage.  The two bathrooms and a separate visitor toilet like the ensuite, have possible disabled access. The layout allows for separation between the formal living and dining area and separate family living and kitchen area. The third lounge is close to the visitor’s bedrooms, giving opportunity for easy living, for the extended family. All rooms have direct access outside in same level with possibility to use the glorious outdoor space from anywhere.  Around house are extensive decking, garden with surrounding native bush and few small lakes – pond areas.

Pendrous New Residence in Wellington, New Zealand by Studio MWA – Studio Mikulcic Worldwide Architecture

Sunday, September 30th, 2012

Article source: Studio MWA – studio Mikulcic Worldwide Architecture

The first site visit and site analysis were crucial for this design. Good ”separation” for each functional areas in the house as well as capturing fantastic views on one side towards Wellington – city and harbour and on another side towards Petone shore, Eastbourne and Lower Hutt and further over the  valley, with simple clean lines and forms were my guide which determinate this design.
