Ningbo Zhongshuge in China by X+LIVING

Thursday, September 24th, 2020

Article source: X+LIVING

The designer creates a unique landscape in the space with vivid expression and bold outline. Located at the coast of the East China Sea, Zhongshuge has interpreted the culture of the times in the city, Ningbo.

Walking close to zhongshuge, you will see that the symbolic glass curtain wall is embedded in the thick stone facade. The concise base sends forth power and the charms of the bookstore is quietly displaced.

Tianyi Pavilion in China by UM Design

Tuesday, February 5th, 2019

Article source: UM Design

The Pavilion covers an area of 178 square meters. The building presents an irregular geometrical form as a whole. The intention of facing the main entrance towards the entrance of the Tianyi Square is to enrich the city interface of the Square while keeping the commercial atmosphere intact.

The roof ridge of the building conforms the direction from the entrance to the central axis of the Square. Considering the temporary nature of the Pavilion and its costs, the form of folding surfaces is adopted instead of using curved roof, and the turning of the roof shows dynamic changes according to different functions. A semi-outdoor sheltered space is formed with a suspended lightweight structure to attract the crowd into the private interior display area.

You could see mountains

You could see waters

Hidden in mountains and waters…

The Chinese people pay attention to the harmonious unity between man and nature. As for place for the elderly, they pay more attention to the full integration with the environment. The project is located in the Village of Zhuangyuanao, Xikou Town, Ningbo, surrounded by mountains. It is backed by Huajian Mountain and Bogu Mountain. The terrain is high, and sometimes the clouds are steaming like thick ink and sometimes like a traditional Chinese painting, and the surrounding mountains and colorful walls are reflected in the water. In the water, people, architecture and nature are integrated into one, like a landscape painting that is slowly unfolding.

The Ningbo Haishu Waterfront district is an island, surrounded by water on all four sides, offering a unique topographical setting in which to reimagine urban life in 21stcentury China. Contemporary Chinese cities have entered a new era of 21st-century urbanism. Old strategies for developing new districts no longer work: cities cannot rely on instant buildings, and iconic projects no longer beget their own economies.
