This work, located in Nova Lima a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais, is now under construction. It is inserted in a huge and complex 8.000 square meters land, with stone walls remaining from an old construction, native forest, grassy plateaus and spectacular views of the mountains. There is also a grotto, which will be incorporated into the new building program.
The project is the result of an extensive research on design that sough a response to all of these site characteristics. The new elements were implemented as shiny pieces that contrast with the rusticity of the walls and existing nature on the grounds. Nature incorporates itself into the house in a poetic way, through the dilution of the boundaries between interior and exterior.
The house was designed for a young couple who requested the use of simple materials in an easily readable space, so that the family’s identity would be printed from the objects and furniture placed on the site and the routine in the new home.
The privileged view of nature was the core starting point for this project on the mountainous region of Nova Lima, State of Minas Gerais/Brazil.
An adventurer couple chose us to create this special project in such an exclusive area.
At first, the site’s high declivity seemed to be a big challenge, but it was also what inspired us to come up with the implantation’s solution. Exploring its natural landscape and the Elephant’s Hill view, it was possible to set the social floor at the height limit, above the trees. The street facade turned out to be the side elevation and the main facade now faces towards the side boundary.
The ML residence is located in the city of Nova lima , state of Minas Gerais. The plot is in a mountanious site with an average slope of 53 per cent.
In order to avoid permanent retaining walls (structures) it was decided that the interference in the topography and earthwork would be minimum as well as the number of building pillars, the result being a ‘volume’ which would appear lighter and detached from the ground.
We have also created two concrete walls on the north and South elevations, which not only define the volume of the house, but also prevent the waste of material, as we used metalical formworks.

In different terrains and contexts, Brazil have the opportunity to live in the forest: either in the field or in town, interspersed with remnants of native forest. Enjoying the climate and the contact with nature is, for those who design it, a challenge but also a privilege.
The premises for the development of the proposal seek to establish a direct relationship of all the internal environments with the external natural landscape, composed of leafy trees, by implanting the residence in the upper part of the terrain. Hence, the generous openings and balconies conform spaces fruition. The intimate area of the house, which houses 3 bedrooms and a living room, is located on the upper deck.
The LD residence is situated in Nova Lima, a mountanious town neighbour to Belo Horizonte, Brasil. The building site has an average 34 degrees transversal inclination and 12 degrees in the longitudinal direction, with 3400 square meters.
By situating the main part of the residence in the longitutinal direction, it was possible to create a more harmonious implantation on the site, thus avoidind giant walls and disproportionate structures, which is quite common in the neighbourhood.

A couple with two grown up sons approached us having a generous site with an almost 360° view and the idea of building a modern and cozy house. The house needed to be a good place to entertain guests and friends and at the same time maintain the panorama created by the garden. Thus, the house was built with fluid spaces, with generous lighting and crossed ventilation, that could be easily integrated or isolated to be used together or independently changing integration and privacy as needed.
Built in the city of Nova Lima, Brazil, the Vale dos Cristais Residence is located in an uphill terrain and due to its linear proportions; the construction harmonizes with the landscape without interfering with its original topography.
The garden that used to serve the family country house for several decades along with a narrow henhouse in which children were running in all directions, together chicks, chickens and a leafy cock was the starting point for the design of this house.
Bosque da Ribeira Residence is situated in a residential neighborhood in Nova Lima, a city near Belo Horizonte – Brazil – with built area of 650 square meters. The residence is at the limit of an allotment, adjacent to an environmental reserve. Thus the residence seeks to create a visual interface and harmonious deployment with the environment, taking full advantage of covered of the forest and featuring a staggered volumetry, decreasing the higher volumes observed in the street.
