FS Kindergarten and Nursery in Oita, Japan by HIBINOSEKKEI + Youji no Shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

Monday, January 25th, 2021

Article source: HIBINOSEKKEI + Youji no Shiro + KIDS DESIGN LABO

This is a new kindergarten and nursery for 76 children, which is built in the playground of the former facility. In the playground of the former building, there was a big tree and under the shade of that tree children used to enjoy gathering, finding interesting things in each season, and creating their own plays.

Thus, the concept of the new building ‘Connect to the Shade of Tree’ is created for the kindergarten’s characteristic and history that the shade of tree makes children’s sensitivity cultivated and makes people comfortable.

The client is a married couple in their 60s who lives in the city center.

They decided to move to Beppu City in Oita Prefecture after semi-retiring and their children also moving out of the house. They desired to live in a location with a warm climate where they could enjoy hot springs and good food.

This is a housing plan for two people who have their individual lifestyles where they live with happy, healthy dogs.

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013

Article source: Naoko Horibe

Located on a long, thin lot surrounded by rice fields, this combined residence and dog salon has a symbolic shape that turns the building itself into a sign for the business. The dog salon occupies the part of the building adjacent to the main road, with bathrooms and kitchen in the center so as to be easily accessed from both the shop and the residence, while the familyfs relaxation space ? the living and dining room ? is located further towards the back.

This building is a weekend residence for a husband and a wife who loves to go climbing. It stands on east facing slope inside a national park, where grand nature can be viewed in all directions. I designed this building by a concept to divide required indoor spaces from the collection of perpendicularly crossing independent walls.

Cloudy house in Oita, Japan by Takao Shiotsuka

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Article source: Takao Shiotsuka

This house is located in suburbs of Oita-city. The place is a small-scale residential quarter developed about 30 years ago.The housing lot exists together to the farmland, and atmosphere there calm compared with the city part. There is no special, wonderful view. However, the flow of light and the wind is correct and solid. We thought about a suitable house for this environment. About what should be of the house with opened condition, such as farmlands and fields there before.
