Spontaneity, raw materials, pristine nature and above all – meat. The best steaks in the city of Olomouc.

Ten years back, you would have come here to have your vehicle inspection certificate stamped. Entering the place, you would have covered your ears to escape the noise of the roaring car engines and watched the mechanics checking clutches and brakes. As the shift ended and the chaps clocked out to leave for home all hungry, they might have been dreaming about one kind of meal. The juicy steak they would eat seated at a solid wood table supported by raw steel legs. Greenery and nature come face to face with animal force. That’s the core of Steak Restaurant’s (STK) interior, housed in a former car repair shop which gave the steakhouse its name.

Cafe KONVIKT in Olomouc, Czech Republic by Denisa Strmiskova Studio

Cafe is located next to former Baroque chapel in Jesuit convict in Olomouc. The word convict is symptomatically derived from latin word convicere, which means “to live in a community”. The Corpus Christi Chapel was used during the 17^th century by Jesuits, who were known both for their missions into exotic sites and for their extraordinary high level of education. Based on that, elements in the café combines Baroque religious mystique with secular order and knowledge. Essential shape of interior inhabits domed space full of light. Under the dome was embedded an inner floor, which can be seen as metaphor of tree. Continuing this metaphor, bottom layer of cafe is a solid ground or phyla, conducted in earthy tones. The inner floor itself reminds a treetop. It is filled with plants and flora and soft, dark green sofas.
