A Modern Boathouse in Ontario, Canada by Weiss Architecture & Urbanism Limited

Friday, February 20th, 2015

Article source: v2com

Located on one of the many islands dotting The Archipelago in Georgian Bay, Ontario, this private boathouse and docking facility designed by Kevin Weiss of Weiss Architecture & Urbanism Limited exemplifies a quiet and precise modernism. Through careful form-making and the use of rustic materials, the project responds gently both to the natural and cultural context of the area, where historically built-form yields to the power of the landscape with its exposed and glacially carved granite and wind swept jack pines.

Lang Loft in Thornhill, Ontario by atelier rzlbd

Thursday, October 30th, 2014

Article source: atelier rzlbd

For the last 20 years, since moving to her apartment, Heather Lang had been dreaming of turning her home from dated and dreary into an airy open-plan New York style loft. Her home, while not the perfect place, was known as Heather’s Hotel, welcoming visitors from far and wide to enjoy wonderfully hospitality and great cooking. Plus, her residence was often the venue for very large family gathering. It was important to her that while the form and feel of her home would change with a new look, that the functionality to continue to allow her place to be a warm gathering place would not change, and would be improved. rzlbd was up to challenge! The results speak for themselves.
