“House-hT” is a two-story house of steel construction , and the site of this house is in the new residential area of the Osaka southern part. The owner of this house is a young single man who is managing the food company , and is enjoying many hobbies which is racing kart , snowboarding , automobile maintenance , bicycle trip , etc .
The site of “House-dT” is in the new residential area of the Osaka southern part, and can overlook Osaka Bay. I designed this house in this site for husband whose hobby is playing a drum , and wife who is a painter. They requested four things to the design of the house.
On the east of the site, the elevated road joint between Osaka and Kyoto where the JR Tokaido line is crossing from the west. It is to be seen a widely spreading switchyard on the same direction of the elevated road. The vicinity of the site is an eclectic gathering from small to medium size of factories, warehouses, trade facilities and housings forming which is the mixed landscape of architectural typologies.
This tower project for the Fukoku insurance company takes inspiration from the profile of a gigantic tree whose roots proliferate on the surface of the ground. Splayed at its base, the tower’s outline tapers elegantly as it rises, gracing the city’s skyline with a vertical asymptote. The contrast between the structure’s base and upper regions is accentuated by the treatment of the building’s “bark”. Broad “wood chips” on the lower levels gradually give way to a sleek wall.
The house is characterized by a very wide picture-like window towards borrowed scenery of 50-year-old cherry blossom tree. There is a street right in front of the north side of the land, and a high retaining wall of the adjacent land on the south side. Therefore, a room on the south side first floor is unlikely to benefit from the daylight.

This is a mass-produced type ready-built house often developed on a large scale, and as such, has the advantage of producing entire housing of rows. In many cases, as the appearance is coordinated at the designation of the owner, rows of houses that do not necessity match esthetically are created.
This lot is bordered by a road on the west and boxed in by houses on the south, north, and east. Houses will also be built across the road to the west, so our main challenge was securing adequate privacy and natural light. As a result, we decided to design the building around a central courtyard. Although the facade appears monolithic from the street, the instant the front door is opened one is confronted by an open, light-filled courtyard. The plan on the first and second floors allows residents to circle around the courtyard as they move from room to room, almost as if they were going for a walk within their own home.

This is a three-story steel-frame construction residence with atelier for writersf couple. The first floor is used primarily as their work space; second and third floors as residence. Land in this area apparently went for sale several decades ago, and many of the surrounding houses are low-rise buildings adopting lateral coving for siding with similar color tone.
This property is located in a crowded residential district, with a parking lot on the west that is likely to be developed and a newspaper distribution center to the north that operates from early in the morning. Given those circumstances, we decided to design the house around a central courtyard and surround the property with walls, closing it off from the street.
The location is Abeno-ward Osaka, JAPAN. Though it is a superb location just 10 minutes from Tennoji Station, it is in the downtown streets filled with traditional emotion, there are traditional tenement houses, old houses and shops, just 1 block from the main street. I planned the house in the narrow vacant land for 56-square-meters in this area. The house is light and open, and the residents can enjoy their hobbies.
