The house is located in a long and narrow plot. There was an existing house which was six meters large and twenty long, the new building had to use the same footprint and expanded to three floors. The south elevation faces the street and at the back of the house, the garden. The living and dining rooms overlook the garden through a large window, so the house can be flooded with natural light all day long. Both social areas bring the garden inside, an intimate atmosphere surrounded by stone walls and boulders, previously located underground.
The project brief involved a restaurant, that was once considered a point of reference in the city, occupying a plot measuring 5×60 meters, a minimal budget and the customer’s wish for it to be able to function with ease throughout its long daily opening period (8 a.m. to midnight). The proposed solution attempts to take advantage of the full potential of the existing space (both interior and exterior), thereby reducing the work to a minimum.
I’m a Portuguese architect and last December i was awarded the 1st prize Work In Progress competition at the Project CASA’12 event in Porto, Portugal, with the project FoFoFo commissioned by FORBO FLOORING.FoFoFo (stands for Folfing Forbo Folie) is a small stand for a Linoleum producer company – FORBO FLOORING – with the objective to promoted the characteristics of their product (linoleum in this case). The natural material (linoleum) is cutted into 22m long stripes to assure a continuous and voluptuous 3 dimensional pattern that is to be hanged on both walls and ceiling of the MDF structure. The simple joinery of the structure requires no glues, screws or nails due to process of using CNC of the parts (could be interesting to send photos of the assembly process).
A small space with just over 20m ² was the site for the deployment of this kiosk in the Casa da Música Metro Station in the city of Porto, Portugal. This project was based on the idea of “pause”. Pause between commuting routes (home-work-home, home-school-home, etc.) where one color dominates: the yellow. As in the trilogy of chromatic lights os the semaphores, symbolizes a moment of pause, is among the movement and stopping.
Location and Context
The intervention site is located in a specific urban context. The surrounding area is characterized by distinct structures in terms of volumetry, typology and morphology. To the west, in a lower level, we can find consolidated urban structures with panoramic sea views. The remaining area is composed by two-story single-family homes, built in the twentieth century, featuring outdoor spaces and gardens that border directly with the school precinct.
The house is placed on a hill between two streets and two houses. Its footprint was dictated by the location of the previous building. The transparency and natural light claim itself as a fundamental element in the project, allowing to see the river through the plat-an treetops.

For this annual design show, the Portuguese architects’ collective designed an intervention representative of their (ephemeral) work that lies on the border between Architecture, Design, Urban Installation and Art.
With an area of approximately 2000 squared meters (20m by 100m) and an irregular geometry, the plot had uncharacteristic dimensions and form for the city of Porto. The program was built along with the project – never before had a building in Portugal been specifically designed for the social integration of immigrants. With these uncertainties we looked for clues in our immediate surroundings – we found warehouses, small factories, landfills and illegal constructions…
The project concept is based only on the Star of David.
All formal lines are drawn on the triangular mesh (two inverted triangles) representing the relationship between God and man (a triangle) with God and man (triangle 2).
The program of this museum aims to inform, teach and store the collective memory of the population history of the Jews from its beginning in the land of Egypt, the Jewish people until today.
The memory of this museum aims to be a current image, information, a memory for all Jewish people reflect on this.

The project has about 9000m2 building consisting of rooms of projected images of the Holocaust, records the story of King David, King Solomon.
The showrooms and information are divided into 3 parts: information of the past, information from the present state of Israel, informing the future of Israel.
You will have projection rooms, film room Jews (historical films, entertainment, short films, etc.).
Living room with projection streaming city of Israel, Wailing Walls, the Holocaust Museum in Israel, Mount of Olives and all historical places in the city of Jerusalem.

The program consisted in the extension of a small chapel at a University Centre in Oporto. The twenty year old Centre was implanted at the end of a private garden. The existing chapel was too small for the number of students attending services and there was a wish to extend it to an area of 50m². The assumptions were as followed:
– reduced costs;
– open the space towards the garden;
– maximum comfort for users.
The main ideas flowed poetic and swiftly… Many references blended into this rare architectural work, with a theme that had always been of our interest.
