The aim of the competition is to propose new exhibition spaces for the Prague Congress Centre (KCP), that would be used for different purposes, such as conventions, concerts and other social events.
An important condition will be the modernisation – extension – of the convention facilities that will fully meet the high demands of the organising events. The proposal should aim to create a contemporary added value to a building belonging to the architectural heritage of the 1970 ́s. A key aspect therefore will be the connection between the proposed extension and the existing KCP building.
The villa was built in 1936 according to the design of a noted Czech architect Vladimír Grégr, grandson of a well-known journalist and politician. Built in functionalist style, the villa has significant rustic elements including conical exterior walls, rough dragged work and wooden casing. In the framework of maximum respect to the original character of the house, the modifications include removal of the accumulation of insensitive silt of the 80s, highlighting the unique spaces and architectural details, and adaptation to modern living standards.
“Form follows function,” one of the strongest mantras of modern architecture, found another tight fit at the new studio premises of SinnerSchrager in Prague. Kurz Architects designed a new office space in an old industrial building. Both the architects and the German digital agency combined the ideas of interior and digital architectures. Throughout the course of half a year, they used agile processes to plan, build and create a space for 60 digital workers. With a fixed budget and timing, the scope of the solution as constantly reprioritized and iterated upon — in an open, joyful and proactive manner. Trust and willingness to execute stood in the foreground of the collaboration. Elements like building blocks, frameworks and a strict design system were the common ground between the worlds of the architects and the digital agency; orbiting around these fostered their joint journey.
This facility is designed for the city of Prague and is based on Prague inspirations. The design is simple, drawn with one line. This line should be easy to remember and should characterize the Botanical Garden once and for all.
We designed a fancy experience house that will lure people to come back again. The facility is designed to be economical both in its construction and in its operation. The facility and its surroundings will be dominated mainly by green plants.
Seat of AON Central and Eastern Europe, a.s. is located on a corner of the main square in Prague, Wencelas Square. Our very first commission in historical neo-baroque building by Friedrich Ohman from 1896 was a small task of lunch room refurbishment. Second assignment was design of a small part of office open space and the third one was already a masterplan of the whole floor of 1100m2 total area including complete project documentation and supervision of the building process.
Nejen Bistro is located in a growing Prague district of Karlín which was affected by the hundred-year flooding in 2002. This event is reflected in the interior of the bistro, and thus the walls struck by the water were cleaned down to the bricks and kept that way, while the remaining parts of the bistro are plastered. However, the main motive of the bistro is the interconnection of the restaurant and the kitchen. They form a unified area where everyone sees everything and nothing is hidden. Just like the meals, the interior is also clean without unnecessary additives, and it doesn’t hide anything, maybe just the passing through the library. With nightfall, the bistro brightened through the day changes into an intimate place perfect for tasting great wines thanks to clumps of slightly glowing “Edison light bulbs”.
This spacious flat in high-rise block, which was designed for a young man, passed through a total reconstruction. The exchange of flat-infrastructure was necessary. The other points were complete change of bathroom and kitchen layouts and changes of floor and walls surfaces.
The project of two little bathrooms and a kitchen of a maisonnette flat in Prague Vinohrady entrusted a young couple to the architect Dagmar Štěpánová.
Katka and Honza are cooking all the time. So they decided to burn their new house as well. But not from ground to top. Just only all around. Their boys are wondering around with hands full of coal looking forward for winter and making snowman. Hopefully there are some coal buttons left for snowman coat. Katka is harvesting carrots for his nose. Just tomcat with dog are sharing doghouse together. Spending long evenings trying to wake up memories for lovely and warmy flat in Prague.
The apartment is located in one of the stately residential buildings in the neighborhood of Negrelli´s viaduct in Karlín. Thanks to its location on the top floor of here can get a good view of the sky, hovering over the Karlin yards. Beautiful but harrowing atmosphere of this neighborhood is also imprinted into the interior, which is like “rental apartment” used throughout the year, by foreign visitors of the Golden City. We preserved the original, time-tested tiles, worn plank floors and exposed layers of old, wildly colorful painted rooms. Two originally claustrophobic chambers were, due to demolition of wall, turned into a generous space with enough room to breathe. Directly for the interior we have designed and had to make pieces of furniture from the kitchen through the bathroom to the bed with a canopy. The only thing left to say is: Guest to the house, God to the house!
