The World Horticultural Expo 2014 takes place the Chinese city of Qingdao (from April to October 2014) and is expected to attract 15 million international visitors. The main theme of the expo is ‘From the Earth, For the Earth’s and aims to encourage the exchange of culture, technology and horticultural knowledge.

Living between city and park: the best of both worlds.
Here on plot A6 there has been created the perfect combination of the liveliness of the city with its nice small boutiques and terraces on the one hand, and the relaxation of the national park with its beautiful trees and immense green area for strolling, on the other hand. Therefore two urban blocks have been formed around green courtyards which are attached to the mountain park.
The 200.000 square meters complex aims to create a new and contemporary urban space. We have distributed the volumes on the parcel in order to get at the same time both an open public space and an intimate one. The many passages through the project offer walk paths for resident and visitors. The mixed-use project occupies an entire block of the city of Qingdao.
The World Horticultural Expo 2014 will be held in Qingdao from April to October 2014 and is expected to attract 15 million international visitors. Landscape design, gardening, flowers and different types of horticulture from around the world will be exhibited during the event. The 2014 Expo aims to encourage the exchange of culture, technology and horticultural knowledge and will consist of seven different themed areas, with the Theme Pavilion located at their centre.
In addition to its famous Tsingtao beer, the city of Qingdao has long been a key tourist and film-production destination in northern China.
A rich mix of historic buildings makes it a sought after movie shoot location while its proximity to some of the best beaches in northern China attracts millions of tourists every year and helped its successful bid to host the Olympic Sailing competitions in 2008.
