Powerbarn in Ravenna, Italy by GIOVANNI VACCARINI ARCHITETTI

Article source: GIOVANNI VACCARINI ARCHITETTI

Designed by giovanni vaccarini architetti, powerbarn redefines the relationship between energy production and agricultural land.

A virtuous example of coexistence between the industrial and the agricultural world, Powerbarn by Giovanni Vaccarini Architetti in Russi (Ravenna, Italy) interprets the conversion process of part of an industrial area, once property of the Eridania sugar company, into a bioenergy production plant. Surrounded by dunes and natural pathways, the new pole for the production of electricity from renewable sources is fully encircled by the territory it derives its energy resources from. The architecture of the large furnace building, which dominates the area, offers mutable and faceted displays of itself. Its imposing mass is disguised by means of a wooden skin inspired by the Razzle Dazzle mimetic strategy of military origin. A short film by The Piranesi Experience and photos by Massimo Crivellari reveal its qualities.

Executive offices Ravenna – SIRIO Ltd. in Italy by Bartoletti Cicognani architettura e design

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015

Article source: Bartoletti Cicognani architettura e design

Our goal was to turn a simple industrial unit into an executive and management center for Sirio’s offices.

The main alteration we made on the building was the addition of an inner court. We removed part of the existing roof and created a little garden with wide, tall windows that could bring plenty of natural light in every room. Around this central patio, the rest of the building develops. On the ground floor are the operational offices: a wide, double-height open space on which the spacious, quite and bright executive offices – on the first floor – look out. The mezzanine floor houses a wide relax area. The entrance hall, the reception and the waiting area has been designed to display the professionalism and competence of our client’s company, and the vertical path that connect it to the executive offices passes through the large, sunny terrace.
