A Two-Family House OGLE in Riga, Latvia by NRJA

Wednesday, April 4th, 2018

Article source: NRJA

Two separate apartments for two families make up the volume which complies with the strict regulations of Riga historical center. The height of the volume corresponds to the buildings across the street; the varying slopes of the roof react to the geometry of the nearby roofscape. The materials used for facades – black brick, painted timber boards and Rheinzink tin sheets – respond to the surrounding context of historical buildings. The tonality of used materials corresponds symbolically to the location – Ogļu (from latvian – Coal) Street.

Article source: Selim Senin

The main specialty of Baltic Way is togetherness. To reflect this idea on the project, spaces where people can spend time together, talk to each other, enjoy the scenery, make sportive activities, make presentations, and watch movies at night, etc. have been adopted. Our proposal is not merely a library to enter but a platform on which urban life keeps continuing thus a building which integrates with the city.

Revitalisation of Spikeri Square and Daugava waterfront promenade in Riga, Latvia by Arplan, Ltd.

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015

Article source: Arplan, Ltd.

Historically, Spikeri was a warehouse district with 58 warehouses, built in the late 19th century, to store cargo from ships and train freights. Nowadays only 13 warehouses have been preserved, yet it is enough to feel the historic atmosphere. Spikeri square is a public space, constantly exposed to the changes of urban development and society evolution process, thus the historical environment is authentic and multi-layered, reflecting the citizen attitude towards cultural and historical values, accumulated there over centuries.

SPOT studios in Riga, Latvia by Annvil

Sunday, August 25th, 2013

Article source: Annvil

A modern and professional `SPOT studios` is the first photo studio in Latvia, which has created a water studio. It`s located inside Panorama Plaza, multifunctional building complex.

‘Light’ is the starting point for the design concept, to connect the interior with the company’s branding concept. The interior emphasizes the presence of light in various forms. As the studio has no direct access to daylight, designer used different lighting and shapes – robust spotlights, tube lights, light bulb strings and daylight bulbs – to achieve a dynamic light flow.

Airbaltic Passenger Terminal in Riga, Latvia by MSB Arquitectos + ahad Arquitectos

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Article source: MSB Arquitectos + ahad Arquitectos

This work opens our participation with ahead – architects, based in London, a studio which we now have a partnership. Our scheme sets the terminal building in the middle of the two piers, demonstrating a strong connection with both of them. The continuous language of form, materials and expression shape both interior and exterior of the terminal. Further-more, the proposed design is intended to be read as one object; one entity where both piers play an inner complicity.
