Residenza Laranjeiras in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados

Monday, November 1st, 2021

Article source: Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados

Located on the south coast of Rio de Janeiro, Laranjeiras residence is inspired by the lush nature of the surroundings. Steel is the structural core, wood the shell that protects it from the sea and connects it to the green area, one of the most beautiful in Brazil.

The large glass frames are the thin membrane dividing and uniting the interior and exterior spaces. Fernanda Marques’ first objective was to create a dialogue between the parts, making Laranjeiras a contemporary jewel between the ocean and the rainforest.

TransBorda Intervention in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Estúdio Chão

Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020

Article source: Estúdio Chão

What if the places had no walls? What if our home was always open? What if our city were made only of unimpeded, unrestricted, interconnected open spaces? What if we did not accept the idea that in order to live together we would have to be trapped behind walls and avoid the danger we believe we live in, the frightening threat of the other?

The daily violence is the hardest part of life in the city. To protect ourselves, we demand walls that crystallize “our deepest fears,” as the Brazilian architect Angelo Bucci says. This collective construction of fear invades all places and assumes the most diverse forms, from the most ethereal to the most solid, from the most crystalline to the most opaque.

Tuesday, May 28th, 2019

Article source: TODOS Arquitetura

The biggest mall administrator in Latin America, the BRMALLS Group is based in the Rio de Janeiro neighborhood Leblon, in which 124 employees work at, filling the 1019 m² floor. The project was based on values such as exchanging and learning and in the light atmosphere that celebrates the brazilian bossa nova.

The reception was inspired by the concierge of one of the group’s malls and its design incorporates the new company values. Shades of green and blue are a reference to the colors of the Leblon neighborhood beach and also, uses the brand’s blue tone. The metal structures form a large panel that organizes the guest and visitors flow in a soft and easy way.

Itsu RJ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Terra e Tuma Arquitetos Associados

Wednesday, April 17th, 2019

Article source: Terra e Tuma Arquitetos Associados

The project for Itsu store in Rio de Janeiro was an interesting challenge for us: a project that required a fast design solution that complies with the demands of a shopping mall and, at the same time, something that dialogues with a young and urban brand that Itsu represents.

On our first visit, the concrete blocks from the existing structure of the shopping was a eye catching, which led us to develop an “exhibition wall”: revealing the raw materials of the building while also creating modular shelves with the blocks. The gray palette and the pale pink from the hydraulic tiles highlights the wooden objects of Itsu which, combined with the vegetation and the lighting, provides a fresh and contemporary atmosphere to the store.

Aqwa Corporate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Foster + Partners

Tuesday, July 10th, 2018

Article source: Foster + Partners

The Aqwa Corporate Project is a Class A commercial office development along the waterfront in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, strategically located at the heart of the Porto Maravilha urban regeneration district. Situated within a landfill zone dating back to the 20th Century, the project is part of an extensive land reclamation in the historic port area of the city. Throughout its history, the area has been integral to the city’s development, and is where choro and samba music was born. The site is also close to the port region of Rio, which has been isolated for many years by the raised ‘Perimetral’ highway. As part of the masterplan, a portion of this route has been demolished, reintegrating the port – which still receives thousands of visitors every year – with the rest of the area. It will also restore parks, squares and other public spaces throughout the district, while rationalising the traffic flow and introducing new retail, commercial and civic spaces to create a vibrant district in the heart of Rio.
