A “successful” socializing space has the responsibility to transform the infinite possibilities of the encounter into reality by transposing oneself into a new space and time, other than those we are used to. but what if the space is “here” and the time is “now”? the design starts by facilitating a dialogue between the space and the context, a socializing that makes itself possible. the nomadic space thus created becomes an extension of the exterior, in a spontaneity out of clear definitions. the encounter place becomes the interlocutor itself who attracts the users into a dialogue about the natural emphasized by textures and raw materials.
A world opened to primary feelings and cultural detox.
The store or the usual market as the daily venue in town is for everyone the symbol of exchanging news, fragrances, flavors, emotions… it’s the place to get a real cultural pulse or a vitaminizing sensorial experience.
B4 is the place where like at the market we are assaulted by a multitude of objects, colors and materials vibrated by the light of the moment that open our senses towards a possible revealing feel. the visual, auditory, olfactory and gustatory emotions display here one by one into a “garden” of experiences, touching the “explorers” within us in the context of the new Bucharest urban landscape…
Situated 40 km North of Bucharest, in a peaceful rural setting, the house serves as a week-end and vacation retreat for a family living and working in the capital. It tries to make the most of its privileged location – a mildly sloping site at the very edge of Poienarii Rali village, with a beautiful view towards Ialomita river and a forest – by means of a sensitive placement and orientation.
One of the most difficult objectives that we had to address was creating an architectural object that did not disturb the visual calmness of its context. This influenced our decisions regarding typology, volume, scale, materials and technology.
Imagine a house the way you want it to be”, this was the assignment of the Dumbrava Vlasiei architecture competition, in which we were invited to participate, and where the single constraints were the local urban regulations and a budget limit. For an architect, this can be the kind of moment which he dreams of, but when it eventually appears, he realizes that the inexistence of normal architectural impositions can be a deceptive trap. The lack of spatial, morphological, historical or cultural landmarks that characterizes interventions in a completely new neighbourhood, at the zero point of its becoming, is sometimes a more important obstacle than it may seem in starting and developing the creation process inherent to architecture. Consequently, lack of limits generates self-censorship, the conscious development of a personal set of values.
An intervention is made to a small-scale amorphous building accommodating an individual house. The interventions and additions made over time created a garage and a series of annexes in different shapes and sizes, placed without any particular rule in mind. The project aims to perfect the house filling it with functional spaces while also cleansing and organising the exterior space of the patio. The main volume of the house and the garage are thus further preserved.
Oromolu Office is a dialogue between old and new, between heritage and new technologies, a reflection on glass of the history who yearns to be contemporary.
Oromolu Villa on Aviatorilor 8th Street in Bucharest was built for the former Governor of the National Bank Mihai Oromolu in the interwar period by the architect Petre Antonescu. The three story building in the L planimetric conformation embrace the old renown villa and outlines a public space –an urban porch reserved for Victory Square (the most important plaza in Bucharest associated with the Romanian government building). The action was carried out on two levels: in the first instance, the rehabilitation of the villa which was in an advanced stage of degradation and then a glass object to stay with reflective modesty behind, being unite in the basement.
We imagined the community life of this building centered around two urban, yet private courtyards. BC 13 unfolds around these two defining spaces, ensuring organic connections to its neighboring buildings. The brick paved and planted courtyards offer opportunities of interaction. Both access staircases as well as all the apartments benefit from a visual link with these courtyards, provided by large loggias and sill-less windows.
The apartment is located in the very center of Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, on the ground floor of a building completed in 2015. The 2 bedroom apartment came with white finished walls, beautiful wood flooring and 2 bathrooms, fully equipped and finished with travertine stone and ceramic tiles. The most valuable aspect of the apartment is the natural light flushing into the space thanks to the large windows.
The project title, My Precious, sums up the essence of the clients’ brief, their wish for a contemporary and elegant design that focuses on stylish finishes and textures. As they are residents of a seaside city, they also wished to season the design with a marine touch to remind them of their home – we respected this request by using turquoise and dark blue shades, such as the glass backsplash in the kitchen with a marine print, which became one of the most spectacular and memorable design elements in the whole apartment.
This creative space was meant to express a contemporary modern vibe, mixing Scandinavian chic influences, Japanese decor, Mid-century furniture and coloured, dynamic accents. Considering the aim of multifunctional needs in space, this project was also created as a cosy, relaxing spot for two, a place of well-being. Interior design work aimed at a youthful stimulating yet calm environment, in a subtle elegance with relaxed notes. The colour scheme through space synthesises the creative ambience concept. Along with the custom furniture layout, living area mingles with the other spaces in a functional and stylistic way. Scandinavian furniture(Sits, Innovation Living, BoConcept), Made.com lights and art prints on the walls are focus points with a bohemian vibe for the social spot of the house.
