The site is located in the Repino resort area of St. Petersburg. Two-storey house with a total area of 825 m2 is positioned on a picturesque lot of 0.2 hectares with a minimum slope. The architectural style is minimalistic, yet not ascetic. The concept is based on laconic forms, strict silhouette and clear zoning. The project was inspired by the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a leading figure of modernist architect generation of the 20th century. At the heart of his “less is more” philosophy lies the clarity and comprehensibility of the design. Architectural simplicity is expressed in the ephemerality of the structure, free planning and homogeneity of façade materials.
A portion of good rural Italy in Saint-Petersburg. For our studio it was not a pilot project in our cooperation with a network of BONA CAPONA restaurants, being, however, a new look at a concept of the affordable Italian restaurant for every day visits.
What did we think about from the very beginning? Authenticity, removal to a small village in the South of Italy. Therefrom a key conceptual solution – a light, roomy interior, soaked with sun, where every detail is filled with coziness, warmness and family traditions. The basis for planning became a rational zoning principle: the central composition of the hall with a column, decorated with ceramic tiles with some openwork, sofa seat assignment with accent cushions, big floor cachepots with sprawling olive trees.

One of the important principles we adhere to when working on projects is to achieve maximum expressiveness with a minimum of means. And this was especially important when working on our own project, the small apartment where the founders of the bureau, Anya and Borya, live.
The guys bought a small studio apartment in the historic center of Saint Petersburg with an area of only 38 m2, which had been empty for many years. They decided to turn an apartment with plaster falling off and broken windows into a compact living space and a place where the doors are always open for friends.
In the former industrial area of St. Petersburg, in the building of a former factory, with an abundance of bricks, metal structures and concrete, we have implemented a design project of an office of 300 square meters for a company that supplies engineering plumbing to self-service stores in DIY format. The office is designed according to the principles of an Agile office or a flexible office.
When planning a working space, creating an office interior design, our task was to create, firstly, all possible areas of staff cooperation: the academy zone, study rooms, media kiosks. In order to work effectively, employees must have access to training materials, product samples and other materials to help them understand the specifics of their work.
UNStudio has designed a new building for the St. Petersburg office of the international software development company JetBrains and has transformed their current premises into a modern immersive campus environment. With 9 offices already located in Europe, the U.S. and Russia, the new building will help the St. Petersburg office attract unique talent by expressing its distinct identity to its workforce.
The interior scenario is based on the idea of continuity from the past to the future. Built in mid-19th century the building organically combines its historical architectural legacy and cutting-edge functionality of the futuristic technical centre. Zifergauz is designed to embrace digital reality and advanced ideas. It stands at the site where under Peter the Great history took a new turn and the great Russian fleet saw its early days. The building was designed to vertically store the timber delivered for the needs of the Admiralty shipyards.
Apartment is located in the center of St. Petersburg not far from St. Isaac’s Cathedral.
The main task of the project was to preserve the original space of the main room of the apartment with large windows, therefore, all the main areas (living room, kitchen and bedrooms) are located along the windows and utility rooms and bathrooms are located along the blank wall.
We wanted to preserve the light and volume of the room as much as possible, so the living room/kitchen was given the central part of the apartment with two windows, and the main bedroom with a third window is separated from the common area by a glass partition, which helps to preserve the feeling of a common space.
Every year Present Perfect Festival brings together fans of electronic music as well as architects responsible for creating the infrastructure for the biggest summer event in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The festival format requires a range of temporary constructions which capture one’s imagination due to the freedom of artistic expression often limited in the field of permanent architecture.
