The refurbishment of this duplex penthouse in the district Higienópolis was developed for a middle-aged couple, whose main requests were a sober environment, appreciation of the views and natural light, besides taking full advantage of terraces with lush vegetation.

The flat is suitably set out; the lower floor houses the entire private wing and the upper floor the social wing. Both floors have service areas.

Espaço Núcleo Pulso Therapy and Dance Space in São Paulo, Brazil by 23 SUL

Sunday, February 3rd, 2019

Article source: 23 SUL

Espaço Núcleo Pulso is a body awareness and therapeutic space in the center of São Paulo. The institution is located on the last floor of a tall building, hosting different sorts of activities. The teacher and psychologist Mariana Camarote – head of Espaço Núcleo Pulso – wanted to implement different spaces for individual personal therapy and group activities, as well as corporal expression dynamics, related to Body Movement in Brazil.

The concept of the refurbishment design was to transform a typical open-space office without subdivisions and modular mineral lining with a low-ceiling challenge, into a space that could host the main hall among the rest of the program: a waiting area, a dressing room which eventually became the gateway to the main hall – a decompression and transition space –, an office for individual therapies, kitchen, two toilets and individual locker rooms.

Art Gallery Catuçaba in Brazil by CRU! architects

Monday, January 7th, 2019

Article source: CRU! architects

The clients’ idea of an art gallery was that art and nature are intertwined and art should be presented in a natural environment. Throughout the hotel property various art installations can be found. By being in nature one should be more receptive to see and feel art, according to the hotel owner. The art gallery has to host changing exhibitions offering clients a variation of art. This art gallery was built by a community eco-building cooperative that was aided by CRU! Architects. The idea of this social building project was to provide training and job-development for a deprived community. After the community center, commissions were sought outside of the village of Camburi in order to have economic return for the cooperants, of which this art-gallery is an example. The entire bamboo-structure was executed by the local cooperative, whilst the brickwork, excavations and foundations were done by the local workers from the farm which the hotel is located on.

Article source: Pascali Semerdjian Architects

Located in São Paulo, the library was designed in an existing space attached to the main house. The place, plus the program inspired us to create a working and reading space, a refuge, with a double right foot and a short stretch with a simple right foot, guided us to create wood panels covered in straw in a room solely white.

HCO Morumbi in Brazil by Gálvez & Márton Arquitetura

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

Article source: Gálvez & Márton Arquitetura

The project focuses on the client’s need to have a home that brings the feeling of being on a flat surface, reason why, the project needs to be created picturing a firm ground, a solid base, and a light construction (bearing in mind that the landscape is unleveled in 30m, from front to back. Therefore, an artificial plateau is created, respecting the side and rear setbacks, based on the tennis court and the garage, which are built on a solid surface. This way, the building respects the restrictions of the São Paulo City Hall and is inserted in the landscape in a balanced way between the entrance and the main courtyard (social part of the house), both having a similar relevance in area, each with its particular characteristic, both in function and in form. The house was designed seeking to provide nearby and distant views.

University Center Maria Antonia in São Paulo, Brazil by Una Arquitetos

Thursday, December 6th, 2018

Article source: Una Arquitetos

Maria Antonia Street is a historical reference for the University of São Paulo and a mark in the cultural and political life of the city. As the address of the Mackenzie College since the end of the 19th century, the Maria Antonia Street became a catalyser of academic and social discussions after the establishment of the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters at the Rui Barbosa Building, on 1949.

After a violent invasion of the building, by a group of right wing students, escorted by the police in 1968, the Faculty of Philosophy was transferred to the campus of the University (Cidade Universitária).
