Friday, August 21st, 2015

Article source: Rocco Arquitetos

This project is a renovation of a 1940’s house in the city of São Paulo. The client, a single woman, wanted a more free an fluid space, so almost all of the first floor internal walls were removed. In order to do so, without having to include any sort of beam (iron or concrete) under the slab, a suspended beam was installed on top of the second floor (under the roof). It was attached to a built in rod. So, part of the first floor structure was held by this hidden beam.

Praça das Artes Performing Arts Centre in São Paulo, Brazil by Brasil Arquitetura

Tuesday, July 14th, 2015

Article source: Brasil Arquitetura

The Performing Arts Centre Praça das Artes is situated in the centre of São Paulo, an area that has suffered from economic decline and urban degradation for decades. The new complex is inserted into a series of interconnected formerly underused or vacant spaces and can be accessed from three sides of the urban block. The historic building of the former Dramatic and Musical Conservatory and the façade of the Cairo Cinema have been incorporated into the complex and thus gained new significance by providing important physical and symbolic references to the past.

Colombia_325 in São Paulo, Brazil by TRIPTYQUE

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Article source: TRIPTYQUE

Situated in the Jardins, a neighborhood that is undergoing radical change, in an avenue of intense traffic, this building, facing north, appears as an organic incarnation of the urban and natural “aggressions” suffered by a tropical city. The noise, the insulation and the intense traffic are the building materials that feed this project. In spite of its important aspect, the building is not  blind or deaf, but was born from the energy of its context, and uses it to re-qualify itself, as if in a boomerang effect .
