Erick van Egeraat is commissioned to further elaborate the master plan and a series of buildings for the city centre of the City of Unaizah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The approved concept design provides attractive solutions for a series of challenges that the city centre is currently facing. This master plan will contribute to the continued growth and development of the City of Unaizah, with long-term benefits for the citizens of Unaizah and its visitors.

The project for The Noble Qur’an Oasis – Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah is a sign of excellence representing a cultural and civic Islamic centre for the research, study and transmission of the Nobel Qur’an.
This iconic project represents the Islamic city and its potential future extensions embodied in a series of covered circles, a palm oasis in the forefront, and fruit trees and native plants irrigated by a system of water canals creating a micro-climate. A traditional pattern of courtyards and narrow streets meshed within the structure encloses generously sized inner spaces, which define this center for the research, study and transmission of the Nobel Qur’an, as a unique place strongly related to Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah and its environment.

The winners of the invited international competiton for the „Nobel Quran Oasis“ have been announced in Madinah. Gerber Architekten convinced the jury with their landscape focused design and share the second prize with Ricardo Bofill-Taller de Arquitectura. A first prize was not awarded and the third prize was given to gmp. Zaha Hadid and Arata Isozaki & Associates both received a commendation.
The new Children’s Interactive Museum is based on children, their natural curiosity and imagination. Thus, the museum design focuses on the idea of a tree hut as a magical place in the treetops and their dynamic play of light and shadow.
The Children’s Interactive Museum is situated in King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Henning Larsen Architects is behind several mixed-used buildings in addition to the master plan for the area.
Ark-Kassam Architects have created a contemporary residence design concept which is to be allocated on a knoll in the middle of a private Oasis palm, Al-Riyadh Desert.
Three Masses are forming the design of the house and defining the entry lobby with the Arcade courtyard and the interior garden. These volumes are the Service Mass, Living Mass with sunset view and Night Mass with sunrise view. All masses were organized in order to provide the needed shade for one another, creating the different atmospheric scales in between the indoor and the outdoor space protecting the house from extreme weather conditions.
The King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station will serve as a key interchange on the new Riyadh Metro network for Line 1, as well as the terminus of Line 4 (for passengers to the airport) and Line 6. The local monorail can also be accessed from the station via a skybridge. With six platforms over four public floors and two levels of underground car parking, the KAFD Metro Station will be integrated within the urban context of the financial district, responding to the functional requirements of a multimodal transport centre and the district’s future vision. The project extends beyond the simple station typology to emphasize the building’s importance as a dynamic, multi-functional public space; not only an intermediate place perceived through quick transitions, but also a dramatic public space for the city.
The aim is to project 26 houses in the Obhur area. The client wanted to use the same isolated unit type, but generate differences in the street facade to avoid the traditional house complex with all the same.
Recalling the Islamic markets, we remind the Arabic spices image, located in the same container but with different color shades. Natural tones that would fit perfectly into our idea.
On a teardrop-shaped plot just north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the King Abdullah Financial District is developing into a world-class business center for banks, financial institutions, and professional services. Denmark’s Henning Larsen Architects finalized a LEED-certified master plan for the 1.6 million-square-meter plot, and then came on board as project architect for three of the signature buildings.
Our architectural vision for a center focused on technical and environmental concerns endeavors to create an organic form – a structure capable of continual expansion and transformation – rising as a cellular structure of crystalline forms from the desert landscape – a strong protective outer shell concealing soft, porous sheltered courtyards within.
The Female Branch of Prince Naif Centre for Health Science Research is an extension to King Saud University, the most prestigious university in Saudi-Arabia. Located in the centre of Riyadh, the Prince Naif Centre features a series of teaching laboratories, multi-functional research facilities, lecture halls and seminar spaces for students and employees.
