SH House in Sever do Vouga, Portugal by PAULO MARTINS ARQ&DESIGN

Established in only 35m2, this house with an useful floor area of 45 m2 is the perfect place for a weekend break.

With the original outline, the only change was in the existing stairwells, through the usage of weathering steel e dimensioning its usage according to the visual weight in order to hierarchize the absence of mass. This way, it was possible to balance the whole building.

GR House in Sever do Vouga, Portugal by PAULO MARTINS ARQ&DESIGN

Inserted in a plot of land of irregular geometry and surrounded by constructions of little architectural value, this villa emerges as a consequence of its constraints.

If, on the one hand there is a reluctance to visually relate the villa’s interior spaces to its immediate surroundings, on the other hand, there is an uncontrollable desire to turn the villa entirely to face eastwards, towards its view of thunderous beauty and discrete privacy.

SS Apartment in Sever do Vouga, Portugal by PAULO MARTINS ARQ & DESIGN

This project refers to the redesigning of a T1 apartment (46 m2), located in attic flat of a 70’s building, situated in a privileged area of Sever do Vouga.

The social room of the building was firstly East facing while the cosy area was West facing. The main goal of the reconstruction was to change both social and cosy areas to the opposite side, allowing a better sun exposure which also made it possible to use the contiguous balcony.

It was also created a box inside the apartment, cleary distiguished with the usage of another colour, where other facilities, such as toilet, kitchen and machines, were placed.
