LED 847 in Shanghai, China by Benjamin Loiseau Architecture

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

Article source: Benjamin Loiseau Architecture

This command takes place on the north of the Zhangjiang district in Pudong. It’s along the future trade route site. It includes 36,000 m2 of shops and facilitys. The context here is nonexistent, except for the presence of a river bordering the project, which leads to a “technology park”.
The fluid form of the buildings come from the river and from the futur energy of the site. A long ribbon of LED visually unifies all the programs along the road. This is a screen of 800 m length perfect for reading in the car which provide a technological showcase.

Kic Park in Shanghai, China by 3GATTI Architecture Studio

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Article source: 3GATTI Architecture Studio

Kik Park is a leftover urban area that Francesco Gatti is surprised to see has escaped being built-up and which is positioned at the entrance to the Kic Village, constructed in recent years for the students at the nearby universities of Fudan and Tongji.  Since 2005 when the Italian architect transferred part of his professional activities to China he has recurrently been interested in the possibility of designing interstice spaces – as in the case of the In Factory JingAn Six Loft Buildings (2006), where the outside areas of the redevelopment project were treated on a par with a residential and work environment.

Re-thinking SuZhou Creek in Shanghai, China by ohm architekti

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

Article source: ohm architekti

[0] Prologue

Men distort and bend reality in order to maintain their face. Enhancing our image places us higher on imaginary scale of public opinion. Monotone grayness is covered by fancy facade, pretending to be special, but still empty on the inside. Monoculture fields of unified hi-rise offer forced equality to everyone.

It is in the human nature to shape their surroundings. We adapt it to suit our needs, to identify. But we can also ADOPT the surrounding as it is, give it a new meaning. We create a temporal city, one that changes in time and space. Let’s use empty capacity, and offer it for inhabitation. The city is a result of our will. Do not be afraid to use it as it was never intended to be used.
