Article source: Sò Studio

Oxalis is located in 4L of Bohua Square, which is a French Restaurant. Shanghai Bohua Square is composed of a 60-story office tower and retail commercials. It is located next to the Shanghai Nature Museum. The Oxalis restaurant has a large terrace on the north side facing the Wusong River, which means there are great views. The roots of the “Oxalis” name can be traced to 2008, at Restaurant BRAS when Chef Jonas started to work with Michel BRAS where together with the kitchen team, he foraged herbs, plants & flowers in fields around the restaurant. Oxalis was one of the first herbs he foraged. Chef Jonas defines this restaurant as “Bistronomy”, which means the fusion of a pub and food.

%Arabica coffee in Shanghai, China by B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio

Thursday, January 9th, 2020

Article source: B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio

The new %Arabica Coffee is located in Jianguoxi Street in Shanghai. Being the French concession provides the street with a narrative history in the old time, and the Wutong trees on the roadsides help it build a quiet environment in the busy city.

The design is inspired by the peaceful atmosphere and the dynamic sunshine from the street. To welcome both street view and customers inside, the designers make an open design for the coffee shop. Its main part is composed of a U-shape glass enclosed space and a small courtyard embracing it. The courtyard makes a seamless connection between the street and the coffee shop. The transparent design merges the coffee shop into the environment, the natural elements like sunshine, rain and trees are all considered as elements to the space.

Pedestrian Bridge over Shanghai Taitong Ferry Station in China by Scenic Architecture Office

Sunday, December 15th, 2019

Article source: Scenic Architecture Office

The connectivity of the waterfront spaces along Shanghai Huangpu River has been launched since 2016. To link the waterfront spaces along the East Bund, Pudong New District planned to build twelve bridges that serve the public not only as low-speed pathways, but also as landmarks in the East Bund landscape.

As one of the twelve bridges, the Pedestrian Bridge over Shanghai Taitong Ferry Station – which is near the city’s landmark of Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower – connects the Metropolis Plaza at the eastern side and the Lujiazui CBD Greenland at the western side. The bridge itself is 180-meter long, and is connected to landscape pathways with a total length of 389 meters. According to different heights in the site, the bridge wind around surrounding buildings with two lanes for cycling and jogging/walking. The winding bridge passes through the lush vegetation in the riverside landscape belt, and leads those who are sightseeing or sporting on the bridge to move up and down. Peaking at the platform of the Taitong Ferry Station, or gathering at the courtyard under the bridge, different flows separate and mingle with each other at different points, which makes the bridge a medium for “interweaving flows”.

West Bund Museum in Shanghai, China by David Chipperfield Architects

Sunday, December 1st, 2019

Article source: David Chipperfield Architects

The West Bund Museum is a new art gallery on the Shanghai Corniche, an 8.5 kilometre frontage on the northern bank of the Huangpu River. The promenade connects the Xuhui district to the historic Bund and forms a key part of the West Bund Masterplan, which envisages a new cultural district over nine square kilometres of former industrial land.

The museum occupies a triangular plot at the northernmost tip of a new public park, at the point where Longteng Avenue and the river converge. A raised public esplanade above the flood plain surrounds the building, offering views to the river. The edge of the esplanade on the east side is delineated by a continuous series of steps with landing stages leading to the riverbank. The site offered the opportunity to create a completely freestanding structure and its location allowed for improved access to both the river and the park.

WE+lab FUXING Plaza in Shanghai, China by ROARC RENEW

Friday, November 22nd, 2019

Article source: ROARC RENEW

Fuxing Park locates in the north of Middle Fuxing Road, shaded by oriental planes, while Roarc project “WE+lab” starts in the FUXING Plaza, an old three-storey building that seems  to be out of place amongst theFrench garden. Our challenge lies in how to elegantly blend the project in the French grace and romance of the Fuxing Park.

Stepping once again into this park, Roarc team was overwhelmed with the astounding characteristics  of the French garden: axis, axial symmetry, gridding, patterning, as well as the beautiful  flowers, planes trees, pavilions and ponds. Our team determined to salute  the only French garden with our design.

Natural Beauty Salon in Shanghai, China by Studio DOTCOF

Tuesday, November 19th, 2019

Article source: Studio DOTCOF

This beauty salon is a renovation project. Our client owns a hair salon originally, located at a corner of a busy crossroad. For some business reasons, client wants to change this shop into a beauty salon. It couldn’t be better that a street frontage shop to be used as hair salon, but the problem occurs if we want to change it into a beauty salon. It will serve female customers mainly. Besides selling skin care products, it will also help customer to conduct skin test and skin care treatment, thus the space requires a higher level of privacy. How to create an appropriate quiet, private, and relaxed environment, inside this busy street frontage space? It becomes the first priority challenge in our design.
