Article source: Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects

Located in a 1990’s two-story building within the typical Shanghai li-nong (alley) neighborhood, the original architecture combined the modernist aesthetics with maize-yellow ceramic tiles on the facade walls. The renovation sought to add a sunshine room based on the original construction to build a contact with indoor and outdoor closely. One of the most crucial aspects of the new design is the consideration of construction materials such as gray terrazzo floor, wooden doorframe and wrought-iron glass door panels implies the perfection and sensitivity of the architect.

Gelato Dal Cuore is the latest addition to Jing’An eateries resurgence. When it comes to Gelato these guys really know what they are doing. Gelato Dal Cuore, roughly translates to Gelato from the heart. Their passion for high quality shows through with the use of fresh imported ingredients to producing handmade traditional Gelato flavours and inventing loads of seasonal flavours with a local twist. To compliment the high-quality product, Gelato Dal Cuore wanted the design to follow some traditional elements that spoke to the heritage of classic Italian Gelato, mixed with modern elements and accents to complete their orange brand colours. The result is a cool balance of refined and classic which ties together the fun and playfulness of the ingredients. This shop is sure to have lines long into the Shanghai summer.

Icha Chateau in Shanghai, China by SPACEMEN

Sunday, September 9th, 2018

Article source: Spacemen

During the design process for their third store, the client’s research team en route to one of their tea plantations were so captivated by the serene beauty and picturesque sceneries of the endless tea fields that they sought to embody that charm into the store identity. Thus Spacemen drew inspiration from nature and through a series of undulating planes in varies shades of gold, reinterpreted the topography of those iconic green hills into an abstract design language for the restaurant.

Taking up a refurbished mid-19th century colonial heritage building in the newly developed outdoor shopping district, Fengsheng Li, the project will be the new flagship restaurant of the brand as well as becoming a signature landmark in the centre of the government owned property.
