Luneurs Boulanger + Glacier is situated in a busy little walking street in the Former French Concession, Shanghai. This French run neighbourhood store consists of an onsite working bakery and front retail space. Views through to the back-working space allow for the customer to visually interact with the baking process. The front shop space is intimate and compact, combining traditional rustic elements with sleek modern surfaces. The presentation of the baked goodies, combine a more traditional display at the back with a minimalistic “hero product” display on the counter.

Given the opportunity to design a gallery in this shopping compound for U Concept Gallery, a brand that combines cultural, educational and commercial programs in one location, Lukstudio have created a folded arcade to channel the surrounding civic energies into a semi-public retail experience.

Gemma de Osteria uses natural hues and rustic textures contrasting more industrial details.
Osteria de Gemma, specializes in traditional Italian handmade pasta. An open kitchen adds to the warm ambience, with the feature pasta room amongst the dinners creating movement and flair. . A warm earthy colour palette with natural finishes. The space includes a bar, formal dining and a private function space.
Located in a 1990’s two-story building within the typical Shanghai li-nong (alley) neighborhood, the original architecture combined the modernist aesthetics with maize-yellow ceramic tiles on the facade walls. The renovation sought to add a sunshine room based on the original construction to build a contact with indoor and outdoor closely. One of the most crucial aspects of the new design is the consideration of construction materials such as gray terrazzo floor, wooden doorframe and wrought-iron glass door panels implies the perfection and sensitivity of the architect.

Gelato Dal Cuore is the latest addition to Jing’An eateries resurgence. When it comes to Gelato these guys really know what they are doing. Gelato Dal Cuore, roughly translates to Gelato from the heart. Their passion for high quality shows through with the use of fresh imported ingredients to producing handmade traditional Gelato flavours and inventing loads of seasonal flavours with a local twist. To compliment the high-quality product, Gelato Dal Cuore wanted the design to follow some traditional elements that spoke to the heritage of classic Italian Gelato, mixed with modern elements and accents to complete their orange brand colours. The result is a cool balance of refined and classic which ties together the fun and playfulness of the ingredients. This shop is sure to have lines long into the Shanghai summer.
During the design process for their third store, the client’s research team en route to one of their tea plantations were so captivated by the serene beauty and picturesque sceneries of the endless tea fields that they sought to embody that charm into the store identity. Thus Spacemen drew inspiration from nature and through a series of undulating planes in varies shades of gold, reinterpreted the topography of those iconic green hills into an abstract design language for the restaurant.

Chinese native architecture design office Yushe Yuzhu was commissioned to transform a former residence into a co-working space in Shanghai’s downtown area where members can share the hundred-year old building and feel the pristine yet modern touch.
Situated on a famous road in Shanghai called Yuyuan Road, where some well-preserved buildings in European style built at the Former French Concession time, the three-storey villa was the old residence of the famous Chinese banker Sun Hengfu in the early 20th century, once called ‘Sun’s Garden’.

Here, nature will be able to reclaim its rightful place in the heart of the city. The buildings have been positioned to open the site up to the city, making this project a lively and welcoming space.
