Situated in the eastern CBD of Longgang, Shenzhen, Shimao Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center enjoys the unique urban landscape resources, with its exhibition center constructed earlier looking towards Longgang Universiade Green Park, its east side facing the future super-high-rise main tower (it might become China's landmark building), its north side close to the central green space, and its west side echoing with the landscape mountains. The exhibition center will take into account the functions of planning display, commercial marketing, art exhibition, cultural activities, etc., and inject new vitality into the urban area. It will become the first business card of Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center to the public.

Sheraton Shenzhen Nanshan in China by CCD / Cheng Chung Design (HK)

Tuesday, July 16th, 2019

Article source: CCD / Cheng Chung Design (HK)

Since ancient times, preeminent talents have been inseparably related to the lands that nurtured them. Located in Xili, Nanshan District, University Town of Shenzhen not only provides a free academic, artistic and humanistic environment, but also attracts Sheraton to settle in, which is the first international hotel entering this area. With such a humanistic setting, the hotel offers a spiritual habitat for the metropolitans.

Through comprehensive analysis of the surroundings, architecture, landscape and interiors, CCD utilized a holistic approach to define the urban “bleisure” hotel. Design elements extracted from the architectural blocks are utilized to the spatial layout, so as to add a sense of three-dimensional structure to the space. Moreover, lifestyle elements are also applied to the interior design, making the hotel more relevant to daily life.

Ambrosia Tea Shop in Shenzhen, China by Biasol

Monday, July 15th, 2019

Article source: Biasol

The popularity of bubble tea has been shaking up the beverage industry in recent years as the frothy, effervescent drink finds a market of faithful fans. Bubble tea is traditionally made with tea, fruit, milk or juice and little pearls of tapioca goodness. But not every bubble tea is the same with ingredients, price and experience differing as brands carve out their niche in a highly competitive market.

Ambrosia is the name we gave to a new tea brand and shop in an up-and-coming area of Shenzhen, China. The clients wanted an international studio to design their hospitality venue and brand and engaged Biasol to help make their mark as fashionable, modern and mindful. Wanting to share an authentic taste of tea without the use of sugar, Ambrosia uses sensory loose-leaf teas and the finest natural honey.

SHUM YIP UpperHills LOFT in Shenzhen, China by URBANUS

Tuesday, July 9th, 2019

Article source: URBANUS

This base is a high-end commercial complex with 6 high-rise towers containing offices, hotels and business apartments. Adjacent to the CBD district, it is also located between two central parks in Shenzhen. URBANUS’ design task was to construct a 100,000 m2 loft of apartments and offices on top of a shopping center larger than 60,000 m2.

To release the enormous pressure from the vertical dimension of the high-rise tower, we take advantage of the large area of the LOFTs, creating two artificial mountain volumes, in response to the huge scale of the towers. At the same time, the design connects the project to the natural form of the surrounding Lianhua and Bijia Mountains. This design also encloses a quiet space, by connecting the 3-4 level high-density office LOFT through exquisite sidewalks, creating a small town with rich spatial variation. There are also some public spaces, such as the LOFT Theater and the Trading & Exhibition Center that gradually transform the “big” and “solid” periphery space to the “small” and “dynamic” inner region. The Loft Town has accommodated a shopping mall, business offices and apartments, creating a new model of settlement which integrates residents, offices, shopping malls and cultural spaces.

Unova Co-Working Space in Shenzhen, China by X+LIVING

Friday, July 5th, 2019

Article source: X+LIVING

The project is a co-working space located in Shenzhen, which was design by X+LIVING. The goal was to create a space which can accommodate multiple companies and give full play to the employees' individuality, and let “co-working” no longer be just a synonym for “low-cost”.

The chief designer, Li Xiang, integrated artistic aesthetics and interesting visual effects into the four-storey space, and differentiated the tone and style of each floor based on functions.

1F serves as the lobby and reception area, with two entrances. The main area of the lobby on the south side functions as the main entrance, from which people can reach the workspace, while the north area features an entrance leading to the dining space and a large striking installation resembling a hot-air balloon.

The completion ceremony of the Nanshan Technology Finance City in Shenzhen was held recently. The masterplan and the entire complex of buildings was designed by Foster + Partners, establishing a new destination for the city and a new benchmark for sustainable architecture in China. The design creates an integrated mixed-use community – unified by a series of ‘ribbons’ that define the routes, landscape and buildings – bringing together offices, a hotel and a dynamic public realm, animated by shops, restaurants and a range of new civic spaces.

Doko Bar Shenzhen in China by Waterfrom Design

Food Exhibition And Show

From Real to Virtual, it all an Eating Show.

Pop artist Andy Warhol once said, “In the future, everyone has a chance at 15 minutes of fame”. In this age of Internet celebrities, people eat not just to satisfy their appetite, but they also use the food and the environment to show off themselves. Where Doko Bar located in Nanshan District of Shenzhen, is a representative Internet celebrity dessert shop. Waterfrom design, originated from the 15-minute theory, considers the eating process a show. From the moment our guests step inside our store, take a seat, and from the moment we prepare our dessert to deliver our dishes and our guests taste our food, every step of the way is like tight-coupling chapters of a play. Everyone in the store becomes a member of the platform. The space is a laboratory in which people taste their food.
