Capco/ Bold Rocket Offices in Shoreditch, London by D+DS Architecture Office

Friday, September 5th, 2014

Article source: D+DS Architecture Office

The Capco and Bold Rocket offices in Shoreditch, London are located in a 150 year old 5 story steel and brick loft building. The architectural and cultural context of the neighborhood inspired the design concept: open loft space, industrial architecture with character, solid materials, visible joinery details. The custom furniture and walls use raw materials and expose the method of construction. Solid ash wood, timber pine either left natural or painted and black powder coated steel are the predominant materials. Walls reveal the method of construction, turning the typical construction inside out; wood studs are visible.

Artist’s Society and High end Residential Flats in Shoreditch, London by Simone de Gale Architects

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

Article source: Simone de Gale Architects

The project provided an excellent design solution for re-modelling a largely dilapidated Victorian building located in Shoreditch by converting the residential dwelling into high end residential flats and to extend at the rear and provide a local artists society for artists and curators within the vicinity. The design for the extension included a contrasting contemporary glazed roof detailing with strong horizontal lines cutting into the verticality of the strong classical Victorian facade.
