99C in Cape Town, South Africa by Inhouse Brand Architects

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

Article source: Inhouse Brand Architects

When Inhouse Brand Architects was approached to create the new Cape Town offices of top local advertising agency 99c, its interior design team used the opportunity to produce an extraordinary – yet more efficient – work environment that sounds the death knell of the conventional office.

Inhouse approached the design process with several key goals, the first, being to enhance the already spectacular site. The 3000 square meter premises occupy the top three levels of the Atlantic Centre, a new office development on Cape Town’s eastern foreshore. There is a magnificent double-volume interior partly broken by a mezzanine level, and one floor below. Fantastic views wrap around the building, taking in the harbour and Devil’s Peak. Being as yet unoccupied, it was an empty shell to start with… Inhouse’s second goal was to create a fully functioning environment to suit the client’s daily business needs; and the third, was to reflect the creative nature of the agency and its employees.

Urban Man Cave in Cape Town, South Africa by Inhouse Brand Architects

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

Article source: Inhouse Brand Architects

What can only be described as the ultimate “man cave”, Inhouse Brand Architects has converted the unused lounge area of a Fresnaye residence into an industrial-inspired dream pad for the family’s lucky teenage boy and his friends.

Taking into account the youngster’s various interests such as skating, surfing and socialising, the Inhouse team aimed to create a trendy, multifunctional space. The project was steered by Creative Director Aidan Hart, and senior designer Jenine Bruce, who chose a modern industrial aesthetic for this youthful interior.

Silverhurst in Cape Town, South Africa by SAOTA

Thursday, December 1st, 2016

Article source: SAOTA

This home is a contemporary reboot of the more classical architectural styles, surrounding it in one of Cape Town’s exclusive gated estates in the winelands suburb of Constantia. Set in a tailored parkland garden, the facade is Georgian inspired but the modern aspect of the look is driven by a dynamic of recessed and projecting panels and cubes that create courtyards and terraces that articulate and add interest to what is a highly organised shell. Inside, it’s no less organised but it becomes a story of sculpted space and secret luxury. VIVID Architects prepared the initial concept. SAOTA and ARRCC were then appointed to refine & develop the design and oversee the project to completion.

With the site facilitating a wide ocean frontage, the design was able to respond with a “Wingspread” type architecture that appears to float over the indigenous dune vegetation, taking full advantage of the panoramic beach and sea views.

Beachyhead in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa by SAOTA

Friday, July 29th, 2016

Article source: SAOTA

“The clients approached SAOTA to design a family holiday home that responded to the site, especially the views. They wanted a relaxing, yet elegant home that would be comfortable when entertaining many guests whilst also feeling intimate and cosy when it’s only one or two of them in the house,” said director and project leader Phillippe Fouché.  Other factors that drove the conceptual organisation of the building were the views, sunlight, prevailing wind direction and the zoning parameters.

The brief was to give an existing residential complex consisting of two units a new contemporary look and feel, create some additional quality space, improve the flow and convert a double garage into a new bachelor apartment.

Apartment 1: Four bedroom unit over three storeys + additional study

By replacing an old timber deck with a deep concrete balcony stretching from one side of the building to the other.covered by a concrete roof of the same size the open outdoor space is now usable in any weather condition and incorporates it visually and spatially into the living area with any easy flow between in and outside.
