Mirador House in Barcelona, Spain by DESTILA

Monday, October 28th, 2019

Article source: DESTILA

The single-family housing is located at the edge of the city urban plot of Vic, where the views of the landscape and the Montseny become an essential element of the project. Taking advantage of the topography, the house is structured in three levels; the semi-buried parking lot with direct access from the lower street, the ground floor, where the day area is located; kitchen, living room, dining room, office / room and bathroom, with pedestrian and car access from the upper passage, and the first floor, that define the night area, consisting of a double room, two singles rooms and a bathroom.

The intervention strategy consists of reducing the building’s footprint to free up the plant and generate an open space where the user can enjoy the visuals of the Vic landscape in direct connection with the kitchen, living room and dining room.

The program compaction is achieved by creating two bays, where the staircase organizes the distribution and the structure at the same time, and also the economic impact of the intervention is reduced.

Student Residence Diagonal Besòs in Spain by MDB Architects & POLO Architects

Thursday, October 24th, 2019

Article source: MDB Architects & POLO Architects

The Campus Diagonal-Besòs forms a compact, carefully designed urban unity, located at the crossing of Diagonal and Ronda Litoral. The Hall of Residents wants to play its particular role as “social hub” in this Campus; a place with large communal facilities and a pleasant home for a diverse population of students, guest professors and researchers.

The contours of the site are sharply defined along the lining up of several buildings at both sides of the emblematic central wooden deck. This deck symbolizes what this campus wants to be: a harvest of interchange of knowledge and ideas, of education and research.

Piur Restaurant in Valencia, Spain by Masquespacio

Friday, October 18th, 2019

Article source: Masquespacio

Masquespacio presents the last project they designed for Piur, a restaurant chain from Valencia specialized in pizzas.

The developed project starts with the previous investigation of Piur’s brand strategy and the values expressed by the client from which honesty, the use of a fresh product and a concept inspired by the Valencian origin of its founders can be highlighted. Another important fact transmitted by the client is that the visitors of Piur are persons that desire to have a moment of joy together with their family or friends.

Thereby, the design first of all seeks to find a concept that could connect with the Valencian origins of Piur’s founders and at the same time could work as an attraction point for the restaurant visitors.

Port Operations Headquarters in Motril, Spain by Fresneda & Zamora Arquitectura

Friday, October 18th, 2019

Article source: Fresneda & Zamora Arquitectura

In 2017, the Port Authorities of Motril announced a contest for the new Headquarters of Port Operations of the National Police in order to control the activities carried out in the harbour. The proposed location between fishing vessels a few meters from the Mediterranean is strategic as a control point. This position together with the proximity of groundwater makes the design a sum of architectural and energy-related decisions with the goal of achieving a building with zero energy consumption. Formally, a strategy of sealing the corners and opening the interior spaces is chosen, with a system of courtyards that act as thermal regulators and contribute to the light quality and permeability of the interior.

Faculty of sciences of education for US University in Seville, Spain by Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos

Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

Article source: Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos

The need to host a multi-purpose program and to offer the most appropriate specificity and dimension to each of the uses, has generated the two superimposed layouts that organize the structure of the new building. On one hand, two four-storied buildings that have a cross-span of 19,50 metres spread along the longest side of the building site. The most representative uses are carried out there, the disposition of the classrooms creating a landscaped patio. Superimposed on this structure, there is a more arbitrary, two-storied structure with a 10- metres cross-span. The departments are situated in this other structure, which generates a shading element above the patio. The façade is continuous and is covered with a single material, thus providing unity to the whole.

Casas Asu in Sopela, Spain by Ramos Bilbao Arquitectos

Wednesday, October 9th, 2019

Article source: Ramos Bilbao Arquitectos

Located in a exceptional and privileged place, the houses of Asu are designed as single family houses that dance at the same rhythm. Due to the adjustment of the houses to the slope, they are a composition of volumes in movement that, being part of a family, maintain their own independence. This movement gives kindness to the volume, dinamism and visual richness. On one hand, every house is adapted to the needs of each owner. On the other hand, they have the soft and friendly finishes common. They also take advantage of the natural light that comes from the Cantabrian Sea.

Caro Hotel in Valencia, Spain by Francesc Rifé Studio

Friday, December 23rd, 2016

Article source: Francesc Rifé Studio

The road is made by walking…, as Antonio Machado said some decades ago. In this way, the Caro Hotel has been forging its own path for some time now, first with the completion of Alma del Temple Restaurant, recently connected to the hotel, and now the hotel itself. The building, a recognized Hotel Monument, is like a palimpsest on which each of its numerous residents have left their mark, the latest being our studio. Integrated elements and cultures that have been revealed slowly over time… featuring the noteworthy 12th-century Almohad wall standing 15 meters high, which runs lengthwise down the center of the building.

House in Soto del Real, Spain by Alberich-Rodríguez Arquitectos

Friday, December 16th, 2016

Article source: Alberich-Rodríguez Arquitectos

The work was about projecting a familiar dwelling of a conventional programming, destined to a couple with two children, in a typical residential area of the Madrid mountain range, an environment without qualification.

In this sense we decided to give a recognizable piece to this disorganized, or better said heterogeneous, area of suburbia without any architectural interest.

As Moreno Galván wrote: “Buildings are created with a particular purpose. But architecture is made from a situation, an understanding of things, an image of the world.”
