ALUMINIUM HOUSE in MADRID, SPAIN by FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Tuesday, June 28th, 2016

Article source: FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

A consolidated landscape surrounded by gardens with big trees within the metropolis of Madrid is the fortunate starting point of this house.

The piece, of metallic and horizontal nature, produces the effect of having just one storey. With its proportions and materiality it both contrasts and blends with the tall trees of its environment.

46 SOCIAL DWELLINGS FOR RENT AND STORES in Seville, Spain by gabriel verd arquitectos

Friday, June 24th, 2016

Article source: gabriel verd arquitectos

The project was built in an area of residential expansion in the outer suburb of Seville, in the south of Spain.

The small size of the plot and the high housing density that was required suggested a court-type solution. The patio played a key role as an area for social interaction and made it possible to achieve the objective of giving the 46 apartments (2 or 3 bedrooms) two prospects – on the inner courtyard and on the street.

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016

Article source: Linazasoro&Sánchez Arquitectura

The Campus of Segovia is placed on a large plot in the suburbs of this historical city. It is a site defined by the lack of public spaces. This project intends to create an important cultural pole. Therefore, it stands surrounding a big covered square which will be used not only by students and teachers, but also by the neighbours of the area.

Dezanove House in A Pobra do Caramiñal, Spain by iñaki leite

Saturday, June 18th, 2016

Article source: iñaki leite

The architect’s inspiration came from the reclaimed eucalyptus wood of the “bateas”. These are the mussel production platforms that you see in the estuary and that constitute one of the most important local industry in “Ria da Arousa”, Spain. Eucalyptus wood is used in these platforms, and there are great extensions of this tree in the region.

Renovation of Alan’s apartment in Barcelona, Spain by EO arquitectura

Saturday, June 18th, 2016

Article source: EO arquitectura

The project presents the renovation of an apartment located in a building on the ‘Eixample’ neighbourhood, Barcelona.

Originally, the apartment presented a decayed and dark image due to the excessive subdivided rooms. The patio is very narrow and it scarcely receives light. Except for the two rooms next to the main facade, the apartment was barely illuminated by natural light.

“Finca Feeling in Palma Palace” in Balearic Islands, Spain by Daniele Claudio Taddei Architect

Friday, June 17th, 2016

Article source: Daniele Claudio Taddei Architect

In the historic quarter of Calatrava in the centre of Palma old town buildings are full of history, but time and weather are also talking great toll, very often the palaces are in need of renovation.

And it is in this context that the top two floors of an historic building originating from the 17th century could be joined together with all the roofs creating terraces on 3 levels, taking advantage of the spectacular view of roof landscapes, the cathedral, several churches and the sea, and at the same time enjoying the very quiet green inner court, typical element of the palaces in the medieval city centre.

MIKAELA HOUSE in Navarra, Spain by Francisco Mangado

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

Article source:Francisco Mangado

Gorraiz, on the outskirts of Pamplona, is a recently developed upscale residential area whose architectures draw inspiration mainly from those of the past. Rare here are the houses with an autonomous and contemporary design. The only peculiarity of the plot where this house rises is its elevated position, affording views onto the golf courses of the lower part of the housing development. The design scheme starts from an abstract interpretation of the urban codes, by which at least 60% of the roof must have at least a 35% slope. Understood in strictly geometric and abstract terms, the codes define a section where exactly 60% of its linear progress must have a 35% slope, the remaining 40% of the roof being almost flat. With this initial section, the project attempts to make the most of the features of the resulting volume. The higher level contains the living areas, whereas the bedrooms and indoor swimming pool are beneath the flat part of the roof. A series of incisions articulate the different areas of the house and bring natural light into those that are farther apart from the perimeter, the largest of which is a courtyard that goes all the way down to the basement.
