Cirkus, Scandiascenen in Stockholm, Sweden by White Arkitekter

Wednesday, June 15th, 2016

Article source: White Arkitekter

The historic Cirkus theatre in Stockholm – built 1892 – has received a modern addition, Skandiascenen, partly built into a niche of solid rock. The foyers of the two amphitheaters are placed on two different levels. From the outside, each one of the facades preserves its own identity which is a testimony to their respective age. Inside, both venues share an intimate feeling in the auditoria and even the same shade of red that is commonly associated with traditional theatres.

A metallic apartment complex on a former industrial site outside in Stockholm, Sweden by Joliark

Thursday, January 29th, 2015

Article source: Joliark

Having nourished an unfulfilled dream of his own doll’s house since boyhood, Per Johanson of Joliark has finally seen it take real shape in this metallic apartment complex on a former industrial site outside Stockholm.

The project comprises 44 dwellings organised within two volumes. A driving force in the design process has been the preservation of a pure and simple material expression. Rigorously composed meetings between wood, concrete and steel ensure the maintenance of a sense of whole.

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

Article source: Studiomama

Studiomama have created two stunning loft apartments in Stockholm’s medieval old town Gamla Stan. The 200sqm apartments started as derelict office space on the top floors of a 300 year old building in the heart of the city.  In a minefield of regulations and restrictions they have worked with conservation specialists to craft beautiful modern living spaces that remain sensitive to their ancient surroundings by stripping back to the skeleton of the structure and re making an interior to the exacting standards of a new build.
