White Arkitekter has designed the new building at the entrance of Johanneberg Science Park on the Chalmers University of Technology campus in Gothenburg, Sweden. The building, a new iconic landmark, will act as an incubator for the stimulation of ideas and innovations within the construction sector, as well as a catalyst for private, public and academic sector collaborations.
Saturday, 2 May 2015 marks the opening of Malmö Live, the new cultural centre in Malmö, Sweden. In 2010, schmidt hammer lassen architects in a team with Skanska, Nordic Choice Hotels Akustikon and SLA won a competition to design the 54,000m2 concert, congress and hotel complex. The masterplan also includes 27,000m2 for housing and commercial use.
Sundsvall was at the end of the 1900th century, one of the wealthiest cities in Sweden. The wealth came from the forests in the north that provided the rest of the country with timber for paper- and construction needs. But in 1888 Sundsvall was struck by a fire that almost completely destroyed the old wooden town. The best architects in Sweden were assigned, and no expenses were spared to create the new city.
Villa Altona is located in Törnskogen, in the municipality of Sollentuna, Sweden. The site is steep with a height difference of nine meters between the ground floor and the street level. The contrast between the suburban landscape to the south and the untouched forest to the north, gives the site its identity. The two opposite characters of the site generated the form, placement and colors of the house.
In April 2009 Kjellgren Kaminsky won an open competition for passive houses with the builder Höllviksnäs Förvaltnings AB. The competition was organized by the city of Malmö for the last vacant site in the Bo01 housing exhibition area, in the western harbor. Now the houses are to be built.
The surrounding nature and slope dictated the shape of this one family house fully covered in black roofing felt.Delightful views into the sunny forest, space and a daring uncompromising design was the starting point for the development of this villa in Nacka, outside Stockholm.
A conference/cafe/event- building in Uppgränna, Sweden. An existing red barn was demolished and replaced by a modern building with ground floor partly submerged in the slope. The upper entrance level consists of an insulated building partly surrounded by an unheated greenhouse that extends over the entire roof. The greenhouse includes room for plant beds and shelter terraces with expansive views of Lake Vättern and has a climate comparable to that of Northern Italy.
Amhult travel centre was constructed and opened in July 2014. The building consists of a waiting area together with toilets, break rooms for personnel and a small kiosk. During the whole process, the aim was to classify the building according to the Swedish Green Building Council (Miljöbyggnad).
Västermalms Atrium is a large residential project, located right next to Skanska’s new headquarters in Kungsholmen, central Stockholm. The project includes 165 apartments, underground parking, a kindergarten as well as additional spaces. The project consists of two large building-volumes, positioned in the (plan-)shape of a V. Opening up towards southwest, the volumes frame a bright and quiet courtyard space.
Västerås Travel Center is a new transportation hub for trains, buses, taxis, bikes and pedestrians in the heart of Västerås – one of Sweden’s largest cities. The 17-acre project is part of the ambitious long-term urban redevelopment plan “3B – Build Away the Barriers” that seeks to redesign the area surrounding the railway station, reconnecting it to the city of Västerås.
