K.I.S.S. – Residential and Commercial Development in Zurich, Switzerland by Evolution Design AG

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

Article source: Evolution Design AG

The Swiss architecture and design practice Evolution Design, in close collaboration with the client Swiss Life, created 46 individual 2.5-4.5 room maisonettes and flats with a unique concept.

The aim was to develop flats, which would go beyond the functionality and offer an ideal added value as well as have their own identity. This approach responds to the increasing need of individuality and plurality in our current society. Therefore the development of KISS’s design put the future tenant and his personal lifestyle at the centre of its thinking.

Renovation and expansion of BLKB Arlesheim in Switzerland by Nissen Wentzlaff Architekten

Wednesday, November 4th, 2015

Article source: Nissen Wentzlaff Architekten

The property is located in the historical heart of the municipality of Arlesheim. The plan was to renovate the existing building from the 1970s and add on a small extension. The main reason behind the building work was the decision to move the bank’s entrance to the north-east side onto Bachweg. In doing so, the existing arcade features had to be retained. The two-storey passageway creates a spacious entrance to the bank and is flooded with light. The new construction was deliberately rotated outward slightly from the building lines of the façade.

Newly built double pre-school facility in Wiesendangen, Switzerland by SINGER BAENZIGER ARCHITEKTEN

Sunday, November 1st, 2015

Article source: SINGER BAENZIGER ARCHITEKTEN

This double pre-school or kindergarten facility and a recently completed gym serve as extensions of the school grounds to the east.

Separated from the surrounding single-family homes, the pre-school building reflects the orientation of the existing school structures. The staggered construction produces an entrance area with plenty of sunlight and a shady and well-protected outside space at the back of the building. The main entrance is covered and slightly set back.
