Apartment Building Waffenplatzstrasse in Zurich, Switzerland by Andreas Fuhrimann Gabrielle Hächler Architekten

Monday, April 1st, 2019

Article source: Andreas Fuhrimann Gabrielle Hächler Architekten

The project aims to compensate for what is a rather unfavourable access situation by means of outstanding living qualities. The building plots are situated within the second row of buildings on Waffenplatzstrasse, meaning that they are treated from their rearward aspects in terms of the building regulations. This in turn has a potential effect on the volume of the new building. Taking the building codes into account, in particular the boundary and building setbacks, results in a complex and versatile volume.

Article source: Atelier d’Architettura Attilio Panzeri

The villa is situated on a piece of land that enjoys a splendid view of Lugano Lake.

The suggestive view and the impending presence of the rocky mass behind the site have dictated the principles of inclusion of the entire building. The villa relates to the rock – from which it originates – in a dynamic dialogue, and at the same time, stretches towards the lake.

Casa CCFF in Geneva, Switzerland by Leopold Banchini Architects

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019

Article source: Leopold Banchini Architects

Casa CCFF is a domestic factory floating above an untouched garden. Mimicking the surrounding industrial shed roofs, the large open volume is filled with sunlight. The views to the exterior are carefully framed to create a brightly lit intimacy in this highly urban environment. On the first floor, two interior gardens divide the living spaces and bring nature at the heart of the house. Overlaying transparencies blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. Under the suspended volume, a generous covered space allows for outdoor living and parking. Each architectural element placed in the square plan is specifically designed for the simple house.

Recreational Community Center Le Lignon in Switzerland by STENDARDO MENNINGEN ARCHITECTES

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

Article source: STENDARDO MENNINGEN ARCHITECTES

The newly constructed recreational center known as the “Jardin Robinson” occupies a strategic position surrounded by the wooded water-banks of the Rhone on one side and the public facilities of the Lignon district with an emblematic expression of a 1960’s concrete on the other side.

The building is located on a steep slope between the Lignon school and a pedestrian path leading to the water-banks of the Rhone. This position required the design and construction of a new access ramp located at the main entrance of the building for ease of accessibility.
