Far away from home, these warriors temporarily resided in this place; none of them knew if they could get back home again. This place was their only shelter, physically and mentally. Fluid House in Taipei, Taiwan by CJ STUDIOTuesday, September 19th, 2017Article source: CJ STUDIO A city, from a multinational corporation’s perspective, is a local node to which its different components are distributed. Together with other cities where other parts are spread over, the corporation functions as a whole within the global network, thus it is inevitable for a multination business proprietor to fly between nodes to keep the company on track. The client of this project happens to be one of this sort, which brings up an issue of what a house could be like when its owner does not actually live there but just periodically visiting. The loose linkage allows the house divert from the conventional path and requires a new identity. As it only has to function occasionally, the house is more like a private deluxe hotel suite rather than a real home but is required to act like a real one when it performs. At the first time when designer see this place, she found this tiny space is separated by several walls and it looks smaller, even causes unsmooth movement. How to make a dreaming life come true and even there is a new born baby in the future, it is really a difficult problem. Just like MOLECURE is split and reorganized from words “Molecule” and “Cure”, while approaching to the design, we returns to the original purpose of pharmacy- extracting molecule from nature to synthesize healing drugs. Thus we get the idea of building a space which we named “green in the lab”, combining the seemingly conflicting qualities of “primitive” with “technology”, just like new compounds formed due to molecular bombardment. Therefore, to integrate with the natural scenes of sky and mountains has become a major focus for the project. Extension after compression In response to the planning concept of the area, it is required to provide a large amount of open space including the entrance square, street square, dotted square and linear open space for public use. The interior space on the ground floor is reduced, but through the extended floor/ ceiling inside out and by adopting the natural building materials, we add the texture of integrating with the environment and the visual extension. Ant Farm House in Taipei, Taiwan by XRANGEWednesday, July 5th, 2017Article source: XRANGE Xrange wraps a new layer of 80- 177cm wide by 7m high living spaces around an existing indigenous stone house to create an “extreme” new house of outrageous living proportion. The newly added programs of pantry, bar, study, library, dog house and bathrooms are new “rooms” averaging about 4m2 in footprint, but with soaring 7m headroom. Hotel Proverbs Taipei in Taiwan by RAY CHEN +PARTNERS ARCHITECTSFriday, March 24th, 2017Article source: RAY CHEN +PARTNERS ARCHITECTS The site of Hotel Proverbs is located at the heart of Taipei City central where the MRT, night market, department stores, public park and densely occupied apartments create a vibrant and busy area 24-7. To take full advantage of – and to mediate – this lively and yet extremely intricate urban condition, the building splits diagonally into two parts: the upper 42 hotel rooms and the lower hotel amenities. The lower part is pushed back from the park side to make space for the trees indigenous to the site. The upper part, on the other hand, is shifted forward to lean into the park while maintaining an accommodating distance from the apartments closely situated behind the hotel.
