Our conceptual image of a home is a haven far from the madding urban crowd, away from noise, visual pollution, and a place of retreat from everyday worries where we can rest and rewind. However, what comes first to the mind when thinking of the inner space of “home”, is the notion of “protection”- against all above. Standing for such a sense of security would be the “curtain” hanging and dancing, “symbolizing” a home behind. Creating a shared ground between architecture and the city, in this building as a group of “homes”, the curtains swinging with the breeze, which would call up the image of a warm hearth and home, acting both as a representation of a house guard without and the warmth within, have been used as the façade so as to recall the moment when they, swinging in the breeze along the soft rows of “bricks”, have just stepped aside to let the light into the pleasant space of the house they encurtain. For the brick surface to be easily observable, it was decided that the brightest-colored bricks be used; moreover, brick-covered cubes are installed over darker and rough surfaces of stone-covered background.
Golestan Residential Building is located in a wide dead end, with a maximum height of 20 meters close to a military area. The quiet atmosphere of the alley, which is due to its proper width and impassability, and also the green mass of the tree in the courtyard, led us to pay special attention to the main pavement of the project, and use this potential for Improve the quality of indoor spaces and make communication with the yard and the city. In this regard, the role of the terraces as the spaces of this communication becomes more remarkable.
Having always been a controversial issue, generation gap has widened even further today. This gap along with other cultural and social gaps have led to the belief that living in Iran is the coexistence of diverse or even contradictory lifestyles which create a heterogeneous society.
Tochal is a recreational place in Tehran that had remarkable development plan in recent years, thus the design of Cube Club was offered to us.
In this project we encountered with many challenges such as special design terms, client visions, financial and time constraints and special requirements of construction, after the mentioned items, opportunities and constraints becomes the main influential factors in design process.
The idea of constructing a building within a building is explored by expanding the gap between corridors and offices. Similar to how the coastline connects land and sea, a gap between corridor and office is where Qastic’s design exploration emerged. By exploring and expanding this gap, the design and construction of bridges, double height voids, planters, and collaborative voids brought dynamic double height effect to Aparat’s space. As a result of the transparency created by the voids, conversations between employees on upper and lower floors happen at a greater efficiency during the work hours. The glass walls provide opportunities for all 75 work stations to take advantage of natural light and circulation across the entire 600 Sqm2 two story space.
Based on the urban situation, people’s lifestyle and revitalizing the concept of reconciling human and nature, the architect tried to create a pattern within which all the expectations fit. “The building is called The Neighbor in order to be neighboring to the shading tree in the yard. We want it to be arisen from the nature and to describe architecture as a living paradigm.” -Said the architect. One of the remarkable specifications of the project is using recycled materials in order to lower the budget. The white façade is a product of combining cement and recycled stone. “We tried to bring the architecture into the homes of ones who had forgotten the “Quality” because of its high cost.” -Said the architect. Characteristics that describe the essence of design: Communication: The interior communal spaces provide the opportunity for the residents to easily communicate. The yard has short walls so the neighbors can let themselves inside, rest under the shade of the tree and have a friendly chat. Diversity: Order is nature’s quiddity. Architect looks for creation of inner order based on diversity as well as harmony. Reducing repetitive elements and using a modular design system resulted in a variety of different apartments, both in the structure of the plan and the exterior façade. Originality: Everything seems original here. All the spaces are designed based on a function. Being a home: The units get enough amount of daylight. Terraces are like private little gardens that have a great view to the city.
Due to the increase in capital in Tehran (the capital of Iran), most interior projects are a product of demolition of the existing buildings and their replacement with a brand new design which has caused negative impacts on the environment, during the past years. On the other hand, the considered location for this project was rented for a limited time, therefore, minimizing the negative effects of demolition through keeping the existing walls, choosing wood and iron as the materials with the potential to return to the life cycle, designing details capable of being easily assembled and disassembled with the potential to be repeated in the future branches to avoid budget and recourse waste are considered the main issues in interior design of this restaurant.
The White Gallery is an architectural exercise in realigning the potentials and limitations of “in-fill” typology when it comes to creating a performative space for exhibition of art work.
The explicit and deliberate difference, in both figuration and configuration of the interior and exterior of the project, highlights the challenges to be faced in juxtaposition of the duo of typology and program.
The Andarzgoo Residential Building was built in five units ,each one with three bedrooms, on a land with the area of 215 m2. The ground floor included parking area, yard and the entrance while storage rooms, mechanical room, and gym were placed on the basement.
The project is located at one of the busiest street in shahrak-e-gharb, Tehran. Its total area is 1500 sqm. The office complex comprises five levels of open office floors and one double height retail store at street level.
