Forum Groningen in The Netherlands by NL Architects

Wednesday, January 15th, 2020

Article source: NL Architects

Forum Groningen is a new multifunctional building in the center of Groningen, a cultural ‘department store’ filled with books and images, that offers exhibition spaces, movie halls, assembly rooms, restaurants. The Forum aspires to become a platform for interaction and debate, a ‘living room’ for the city.

Forum Groningen is NOT a library, NOT a museum, NOT a cinema, but a new type of public space where the traditional borders between these institutes will dissolve. Information will be presented thematically in a way that transcends the different media.

Lan Handling Technologies in Berkel-Enschot, The Netherlands by cepezed

Sunday, January 12th, 2020

Article source: cepezed

Recently, the Brabant, The Netherlands, branch of the globally operating Lan Handling Technologies moved into a brand-new building designed and realized by cepezed. For their new housing, cepezed assisted the company in terms of both architecture and construction as well as process. For instance, the office contributed to the choice of location, provided counsel on the procurement of the plot and conferred with the municipality on the possibilities of the zoning plan. The architecture and interior disciplines drew up an integral design, for which cepezed also contracted and coordinated all other consultants such as those for stability, MEP & HAVAC, construction physics, fire safety and costs. cepezedbouwteam, the construction branch of the cepezed brand, arranged for the realization; without the use of a main contractor, it engaged, coordinated and supervised the different construction specialists for the client. The close cooperation between the different cepezed specialists has resulted in a custom building for the price of a standard solution. Within the budget available, Lan now has a maximum equipped, state-of-the-art housing at its disposal.

Vijverweg Bloemendaal – 8 luxury apartments in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by vanOmmeren-architecten

Tuesday, January 7th, 2020

Article source: vanOmmeren-architecten

VanOmmeren-architecten won the tender for the redevelopment of the Vijverkerk plot (Bloemendaal, NL) commissioned by Wibaut.

A design for a three story dwelling building was proposed. In close collaboration with the neighborhood and the client an integrated design for 8 luxury apartments is made.

The relationship between inside and outside of the dwelling is directly inspired by the typology of villas in the neighbourhood. These houses are typically accessed from the side of the building, while parking is behind. Therefore the street façade is representative, free of parking, while remaining a green character. The ground floor dwellings offer a garden. Dwellings on the first floor accommodate a loggia, and the top floor dwellings offer a roof terrace. This composition diminishes volume when gaining height, while opening up space for urban green.

La Cervecería in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by STUDIO MODIJEFSKY

Sunday, January 5th, 2020

Article source: STUDIO MODIJEFSKY

In the green neighborhood of Amsterdam east, the warm ‘pincho bar’ La Cervecería, has opened its doors to the public to bring the warm side of Spain to the Dutch capital.

This Spanish-inspired bar has been designed by Studio Modijefsky, which, using a traditionally southern color palette and a lively juxtaposition of modern patterns, created a cozy space for locals to feel on holiday and for southern internationals to feel home. The interior references to typical “cervecerías”: places where Spaniards go to spend their after-work time in the company of colleagues and friends, to enjoy “cañas” and “pinchos” in an informal environment.
