The inside of a station, with a high traffic volume, colorful signs and rows of stores lined up on a tiny strip of real estate, etc., is a peculiar environment in which we were tasked to create a store that would not only stand out, but also allow the brand image to be easily recognizable.

Haunted play house in Tokyo, Japan by TORAFU ARCHITECTS

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

Article source: TORAFU ARCHITECTS

The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo presented a summer exhibition for children entitled  GHOSTS, UNDERPANTS and STARS for which we designed a Haunted house.
The concept of this exhibition invites young visitors to consider the paradox of the rules of the museum, such as ‘Don’t Run’, ‘Don’t Touch’ or ‘Keep Quiet’ by allowing behavior normally forbidden in museums.

Spicebok Offices in Tokyo, Japan by nendo

Friday, July 19th, 2013

Article source: nendo

The office space design for spicebox, a comprehensive digital agency that works across strategic planning, interactive promotion and creative digital marketing, and is part of the Hakuhodo stable. The firm’s name symbolises the ability to deliver surprises and delight, like a variety of stimuli that come tumbling out of a box, so we placed seven box-shaped meeting rooms of differing sizes and finishes around the office, all of which are entered by a wall that has been ‘flipping open’.

Article source: MORIYUKI OCHIAI ARCHITECTS / TWOPLUS-A

During the course of planning the layout for the HANA (Japanese for “flower”) restaurant / bar and event space, we were challenged to come up with a concept that would evoke the floral imagery of the establishment’s eponymous name.

In a country with limited resources such as Japan, the spirit of Monodzukuri is the epitome of ingenuity at the service of craftsmanship.

Neut House in Suginami, Tokyo by APOLLO Architects & Associates

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

Article source: APOLLO Architects & Associates

The ophthalmologist couple purchased this narrow, but deep, parcel of land in a quiet neighborhood to build a house where they could enjoy their hobby of listening to the music. On the basement level, the courtyard and double-pane glazing provide sound-buffer for this RC-structure studio which is insulated on the exterior. Natural light enters the studio through the courtyard and makes the space exceptionally inhabitable as a basement.
