This residence located in Tulum, aims to function as a retreat for a couple looking to get out of the daily bustle of the city and live in the Mexican Caribbean, enjoying the nature that floods the landscape of Tulum. The guiding axis of the design revolves around the customers’ passion, the experience that results from cooking, living and sharing with family and friends. The placement of the house is on the east side of the plot, taking advantage of the green buffer area that it has in the west, creating the feeling of greater openness of the natural areas, which are directly related to the interior spaces of the house, this being one of the main intentions of the project.
Based on a minimalist architectural style that combines comfort with ecological sustainability, Amaya is a luxury project designed that has the objective to provide an experience of constant connection to the natural environment of the Maya Riviera.
This project is inspired by the idea of houses in a village, in which every unit is able to enjoy personal independence due to the sensation of permeability and continuous connection with the outdoors and the exuberant tropical vegetation of Tulum.
This residence, on a narrow lot fronting a protected bay in Tulum, Mexico, was designed to be fully self-sufficient, and to immerse the occupants in the range of environments that the site offers.
A client’s desire for an expansive outdoor program allows for contextual integration within its larger site, while maximizing the benefits of potential environmental strategies. By elevating all primary functions, the ground floor is liberated from all construction. It is transformed into an expansive lush garden, an extension of the Mexican jungle.
