The asymmetrical panels starting from the outer facade and flowing into interior spaces creates a sense of canyon experience. Dental Polyclinic that is located in Maslak Uniq Istanbul Shopping Mall, creates a striking appearance with its unusual concept. Space is cracked open by the circulation and the waiting areas which creates the perception of depth in the project. he service and clinic usages are located around the 3 solid walls of the space leaving the mediocre center open for easy access. This also helps to be able to read the usages of the spaces behind by the frames that are sticking out of the walls of the canyon wall. The spaces behind the panels around circulation are totally white, clean and simple which creates a strong contrast between the interior and exterior of the clinic box spaces.
The project area residential pattern has been isolated between, Ege University residences and İzmir-Manisa main arterial road. This isolated attitude of the zone is reflected to the project area due to the inadequacy of the socio-cultural functions of the transfer zone and the open area density can not be kept permanent.
The structure, which maintains its continuity in the linear architecture, is aimed to create a space open to the active use of students and teachers by means of the large courtyard formed in the south by leaning to the northern edge of the land. The climatic characteristics of Urla have been taken into consideration and applications for planting have been foreseen in the sections facing the south pavement. However, such a study of the south pavement by the practitioner has not yet been carried out. It was aimed to break the monotonous inside and outside on the whole of the design by creating the level differences between the buildings and thus a dynamic composition was captured in the building which is a school. The structure in the physical environment in which it stands out in pure geometrical form is exhibiting a naive temperament in Urla’s traditional heritage.
Kate’s penthouse occupies the top floor as an extension to a century year old historical building right on Istiklal Street in Beyoglu street right in the hustle and bustle of Istanbul. The extension was built approximately 40 years ago with a tasteless, ordinary application when compared to the building itself. The profound traces of the area’s history didn’t exist in this appartment. Quite low ceilings, with a standard layout, layers of cheap and careless work all around, but with a great view of Bosphorus and the old city!
Walking along the Istanbul Moda coastline there is a building which is striking by its architecture. The V shaped capsules on the facade derives the attention. Being curious about the outlook of the building, we were lucky as architects to get the chance to do the interior of the apartment. Considering the location and the view that the building has, the apartment floor is predominant to the vista of Istanbul the first intervention that was thought of was having the facade as transparent as possible.
