A single nameless door with a cutoff switch that looks like iron doorway of transformer house marks the entrance to LoggerHead bar. It is located in the dark patio in the very heart of the city. Adherents of bar culture have been hurrying and scurrying about the city in quest of this secret door for a month. As far as the bar is for friends and friends of the friends, it is not easy to find the way to it. You will not find it’s Facebook page as well as any identification marking. There is a peculiar audience here which is unique, closed and original.
The object is in an apartment house placed in the downtown of Kyiv. The project objective was to convert untenantable upper floor space to a loft. Work on heat insulation required dismount of peripheral brick partitions and boarded ceiling. Original arc roofing structure that appeared underneath was left open in the interior space for several purposes. It was used to mount new partitions and as a basis of new elementsextending current interior space and providing more comfortable ways to the newly createdaccessible roof area. Roof arc structures also allowed separationof different functional zones in the interior.
Our main challenge in designing this office interior was to use every centimeter of the space in the most efficient way. We kept all zones needed for productive work: recreational, working and meeting area and also left some space for a kitchen and a small bathroom. We separated the meeting area by a wooden bookshelf with black glossy sliding doors. Working space for young and creative team inspires cohesive work and stimulates creative activity.

Both buildings contain the same number of functions. The main facades of these two buildings are combined into a composition and oriented to a luxury apartment house. This solution of two buildings makes the facade visually reserved and provide privacy to the owners.
All functional areas are divided into three groups- private, public and technical areas.
The cafe ‘Unit’ became one of the objects of the revitalization project of the part of the plant in Kiev and our team was working on it. This cafe is for students who study at IT-school ‘Unit Factory’. In the beginning we did not plan to build it. But while working on the IT-school project, we understood that there was not so much space for a big canteen or a cafeteria in the reconstructed building. Then we decided to offer the investor to locate the cafe apart. We told about the opportunity to use sea containers and after sketches we got the approval for preparing detailed documents. The cafe became a peculiar business card, a bright spot. Residents, students and other people eat, have meetings, discuss business and get acquainted informally on the territory of Unit City – the name that was given to the territory of the revitalization. Fourteen sea containers were used in the implementation of the Unit Cafe project. One of them is vertical and there is a staircase in it. On the first floor there is an open terrace that is located in the console way above the ground floor. The console of the first floor is 7,5 metres. It has a great school and business centers views. There is water from the one side and it leads to the bridge entrance. Exterior and interior have something in common. A bright green container (the first floor) is partly painted in this colour, too. There are comfortable sofas, tables with chairs and plants on the ground and on the first floors . There is a kitchen, a lavatory and pantries on the ground floor. The total area of the cafe is 275 m2.
