The Port Ludlow Residence is a compact, 2400 SF modern house located on a wooded waterfront property at the north end of the Hood Canal, a long, fjord-like arm of western Puget Sound. The house creates a simple glazed living space that opens up to become a front porch to the beautiful Hood Canal.
Designed as a piece of urban planning within the context of the city as a whole
Creates public park at heart of downtown
Continues urban fabric and scale of context
Parking concealed
The site is adjacent to the heart of the thriving downtown area of the city of Davis. The solution is novel for this type of use: a contextual piece of urban infill, creating a new public park and providing a consistent continuation of the existing density and pedestrian scale. It is the exact opposite of typical concepts for this building type, which would normally place the buildings well back from the street and surround them with parking. The site plan in this case was carefully laid out in relation to the plan of the existing city: the buildings continue the line the street wall and then curve back to create a much needed public green-space, whilst the parking requirement is concealed behind.
Moment Factory was commissioned by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to work in collaboration with Marcela Sardi of Sardi Design and Mike Rubin of MRA International as the executive multimedia content producer for seven iconic media features at the New Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The result is the largest immersive multimedia system of any airport in the Americas. Our team created four hours of original video content, as well as multiple interactive capsules, using the latest in high-resolution imaging, 3D effects and even technologies that react directly to people’s movements and real-time airport information. Although the terminal was unveiled today, it will open to the public only late August or early September.
A home improvement marketplace technology company, this open and collaborative work environment was designed with a balance of open office work benches, and spaces for meetings, meditation, play and private phone calls. A gated area with lockers for personal storage encourages bicycle commuting and use of the Bay Trail along the edge of the San Francisco Bay. Techshed’s brand is expressed with an impactful punch of brand color and in the form of the plywood sheds that house meeting and meditation rooms. An open Café with a robust audio visual system doubles as an all hands meeting and presentation space.
Located on the penthouse level of a commercial tower, this venue is a private bar/lounge/showroom for the liquor brand Right Gin. Similar venues were built in New York and Miami.
