The subject of design is the furnishing and facilities of a part of the apartment for a musician and his partner. The space in question is a new apartment on the second floor of a new apartment building in Ústí nad Labem. Certain elements of the apartment – floors and windows – were left intact, according to the wish of the client.
Agricultural village spread around a municipal road. Original strong and confident establishment as well as neighboring generous farm houses are gone. Nearby natural swimming pool (widely used not long time ago) has been devastated (also due to lack of interest of local authorities). That is an unsettling image of the contemporary outside. Uncertainty, treading water… Now what?
The building of the former stables is part of the farming complex founded around 1870. Size and location of the building is the key to the layout of the whole farm. Along with similarly large barn on the southern edge of the property it defines large yard area and establishes the complex scale, which is larger compared to the surrounding residential development.
The house was built on a steep plot (elevation about 17m) at the top of Ústí nad Labem district Střekov, on the outskirts where city melts into free landscape. North-south oriented building site with remains of an old orchard is located in the IV. zone of the Protected Landscape Area of the Czech Central Mountains (the Czech name is “Ceske stredohori”). Spare building development in the nearest neighborhood is of a diverse character – terraced houses, prebuilt houses, and cottages of various age, size and quality.
