Article source: Elenberg Fraser

Situated in Falls Creek, the development is an essential and exciting new Gateway concept for the Village. Comprising two elegantly formed buildings emerging from the landscape, the view on arrival is complimented by the clearly framed aspect up to the ski fields beyond. At ground level there will be a new retail strip fronting Bogong High Plains Road enlivening the street frontage and creating weather protected spill out zones for visitors to the Village. Entries to the upper level apartments are integrated into this dynamic facade language with prominent entry canopies announcing the unique interiors of the St Falls lobbies.

Article source: Wood/Marsh Pty Ltd Architecture

This project aims to create a harmonious mix of different building typologies set in a large fully permeable garden setting. Five individually sculpted buildings accommodate a mix of town houses, apartments and detached single dwellings. The siting, formal composition, and materiality of each pays sensitive consideration to contextual issues such as surrounding building form and size, the waterfront promenade, and views beyond.

Port Phillip Estate Winery in Red Hill, Victoria by Wood Marsh Architecture

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Article source: Wood Marsh Architecture

Port Phillip Estate Winery sits on a spectacular, undulating site overlooking picturesque vineyards, Westernport bay and Bass Strait. Sited atop a ridge, the building unfurls across site, spiralling out of the ground and slowly rising to form the eastern wall of the structure. This abstract, sculptural form conceals much of the mass and various programme within the building, presenting a bold and simple gesture toward the road.

The building arcs gently across the landscape, following the contours of the land and framing views to the ocean. A pair of curved earth-walls act as a solid, central spine from which smaller, more refined volumes radiate. Thus, various ‘in-between’ spaces are created, providing shelter and intimacy against the often harsh coastal environment.

Camberwell Junction in Victoria, Australia

Monday, January 17th, 2011
  • Architect: Wood/Marsh Pty Ltd Architecture
  • Project year: 2011

Designed as a sinuous sculpted structure, the building has been split into podium and apartment elements.  These elements physically describe the different uses within the development and employ changes in height and setbacks to alter the perception of the buildings size from different angles.  In perspective no entire elevation is viewed at once.  The buildings have no front, rear, or side, and present a consistent level of finish when viewed from any direction.
