VILLA S in Vienna, Austria by buerger katsota architects

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Article source: buerger katsota architects

The scheme aims at accommodating and negotiating the differing and ever changing needs of an extended family. A generous, skylight staircase becomes the gallery of the house and the core of the home linking the two dwellings. Living areas of different sizes and acoustic qualities are designed to cater for music events and social gatherings of various scales. Between the ‘built’ and the ‘un-built’ of the lush urban garden, frames, platforms, niches and extrusions, create intricate relations and unexpected perspectives.

FK Austria Wien Training Academy in Vienna, Austria by Franz zt gmbh + Atelier Mauch gmbh

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Article source: Franz zt gmbh + Atelier Mauch gmbh

a sporting challenge

The academy training grounds of the junior teams of Austria Vienna – one of the most traditional football clubs in Austria – lies close to the ‘Franz Horr Stadium’. they include a training hall and three grass pitches. the construction budget was extremely tight and the construction time limited to six months, and the handover date after completion a strict requirement in order to obtain the license of the Austrian Football League. Vienna building regulations set a maximum building height of 4.5 m and so the 7,0 m required clearance height in the training hall created an inevitable consequence: the entire building had to be lowered half below ground.

Suspended Glazed Bridge (Lugner Bridge) in Vienna, Austria by Aneta Bulant – Kamenova and Klaus Wailzer (designed using AutoCAD)

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Article source: Aneta Bulant – Kamenova and Klaus Wailzer

Project description: The presented object is may be the world–wide first fully glazed suspended bridge. The bridge takes the pedestrians, coming from the historical Otto Wagner metro station up along an escalator to a horizontal platform 8,5 meters over the most frequented boulevard in Vienna, the `Gürtel`. From there one can reach the cinema and shopping center “Lugner City”. Through series of interconnected buildings this multifunctional complex forms a strong pedestrian axis which reaches up to the nearby City Sport Hall and represents a much frequented urban connection. Being the first entering element of this axis the bridge plays the role of a landmark for that big complex. We decided to make it dynamic, light and attractive, like a funny flying object, which hovers over the pulsing city.
