Hoan House in Nha Trang, Vietnam by Vo Trong Nghia Architects + ICADA

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Article source: Vo Trong Nghia Architects

The house is located in Nha Trang, a city in central Vietnam surrounded by the beautiful ocean and mountains. The client wanted a large house with a large garden. Answering to this request, a single roof is designed as a hanging garden to plant numerous trees and plants on it. The local building code, however, requires almost 50% of the roof area to be covered by gray or orange-color tilings and to be sloped. To obey this rule but maximize the green area atop, the roof is divided into parallel bands of greened roofs and  tiled roofs in an alternating sequence.

Binh House in Ha Noi, Vietnam by Landmak Architecture

Wednesday, August 10th, 2016

Article source: Landmak Architecture

This house is built on a bad land shape which is separated from the narrowest part of a large land. It has ugly shape and is most cramped. In suburban, people often build houses on very large land plots, therefore, the small area (in comparison with the land in this area) is paid less attention to build a house.

Uncle’s House in Lam Dong, Vietnam by 3 Atelier

Tuesday, August 9th, 2016

Article source: 3 Atelier

The story began in 2015 while we were doing a construction in Di Linh Highland. Our Uncle helped us look for the materials for the construction, which was our big problem in this rural area (that house also has an interesting story, we’ll tell you later). For many times searching for materials together, we talked more and more about our own future plans and passions. Nothing happened until a few days later he came back and shared his concerns and his plans for a new house.

Kaleidoscope in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by CongSinh Architects

Thursday, July 14th, 2016

Article source: CongSinh Architects

The rapid urbanization in several Asian cities has dramatically reduced the living area per person. Especially in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, most people, sometimes extended families, spend their lives in narrow and long tube houses where they live apart from nature and in dark and unventilated spaces.

Long tube houses for extended families have always been a complicated question for generations of Vietnamese architects.
