Swimming pool Vukovar is located on the site of the old, open-air swimming complex in Borovo naselje, which had been destroyed during the war of the 1990s. The former, torn down pool in Borovo naselje was not only a sport and recreation center, it was a place of encounter, fellowship, the place of social interaction of people from Vukovar as well as their outside visitors. On the site of the previous swimming complex architects faced an entirely devastated rectangular plot, positioned within the defined recreation area: bordering a big sports hall to the south and to the north, an outdoor tennis center and football court.
Work on the new project began in 2004 and in the subsequent 13 years the complex was designed, developed, redesigned, reworked, constructed, demolished, suspended and relaunched, finalized and concluded, tested and appraised and, at last in 2017, open to the public.

Vukovar Water Tower was heavily damaged during Croatian War of Independence and became a symbol of war suffering.
We barely touch the Water Tower… Panoramic elevator leads us to the memorial room in place of the former water tank. In the room, on the screens, we can see documentary videos from the period of the city and Water Tower suffering. A long zig-zag path leads us to the roof, to a viewpoint from which we can see the city which is renewed. And we can see the Danube.
The museum building is a path which the visitors climb to overcome the elevation difference of some twenty meters, from the access road to the plateau on which the Vučedol culture archaeological findings have been discovered. Passing through the museum visitors get all the necessary information about the Vučedol culture, and come to the place of the archaeological sondages aware of importance and meaning of that place. Exhibition areas of the museum are a series of terraces that climb slowly adapting to the topography.
