Located in a zone of old factories, Yaoyue Restaurant was once an unused terrace. Different from the noisy city outside, the designer wants to integrate nature and industry style together and creates a “floating green island in the city”.
The planar graph of the restaurant looks like the letter L, which enables the users to see different views when they change their steps. The whole space can be divided into three kinds of spaces: the outdoor space, the public space and the compartments.
Recently crowned as the world’s second-largest economy, China continues to develop new and interesting ways of embracing the free market economy; this time by experimenting with private funding for public buildings. The new JNC Sales Office/Community Art Center is an example of this inventive approach, where buildings are designed to respond to current and anticipated demographics, cultural and technological changes in innovative ways.

Crystal Lake was a competition to design the architecture of multi-phased mixed-use complex in Xiamen. The project strives to create a modern interpretation of the Jiageng style, which is a fusion of western and Chinese architecture. To break down the scale of the buildings patterns are articulated on the façades. These patterns help maintain a design consistency through the project to create the sense of village living across the development.
