House ‘M’ is located in a rural area surrounded by mountains in Yamaguchi-Prefecture, Japan. The clients, a couple who used to work long hours in the busy city, wanted a quiet house in the nature in relation to the rhythm of the sun.

This small house (100m2) was designed so that the clients would be able to wake up every morning and enjoy the soft light of the rising sun. The exterior walls of the house are made of a semi translucent tent material which allows the sun to penetrate softly inside the house.

The “House J” is a small house (100m2) situated in Yamaguchi-prefecture, Japan.This house was designed for a client in need of privacy and seclusion from the outside.The site is narrow (120m2) and is surrounded by residences.

The “House J” has three floors that are built around a small inner garden.

  • 1st floor: dining room, kitchen, family space.
  • 2nd floor:  study, reading space.
  • 3rd floor:  bedroom.

The site is located in a new residential area on northeast side of Kanmon straits. Clients are born in this area. The family has moved by job transfer frequently, but they bought this land before their retirement and decided to build a house. There is a park on south side of the site, so it gets stable sunlight and broad expanse to the park. On the other hand, they requested privacy because there is much traffic from the park and the street. In addition, the family wanted to enjoy view to KanmonBridge from and a fireworks festival at Kanmon straits the house those are local symbol.
