This project is located in Yamanashi in Japan that is quiet residential area.
Architects tried to make a big empty box. and tried to make less character and more potency how to live in.
House in Kofu is a minimalist residence located in Yamanashi, Japan, designed by tote Architects. The architects wanted to frame Mt. Fuji using a series of sliding door partitions that opens up the main living area to the outside. The home has two different rooftop balconies that provide visual access to Mt. Fuji while the outer wall is connected with stairs entwined by ivy and moss.
A small residence for clients living in Tokyo and Yamanashi two bases.
The client usually lives in a detached house in the center of Tokyo but while planning the child rearing of three children, the plan started to feel a little disabled part in the life of only Tokyo.
Although it is a large premises compared to the city center, since the area around the site is an area dotted with villas and residents’ settlements, it was requested to establish an appropriate relationship with the surrounding environment.
There was the existing building between a vineyard and the mountain. It is a plan under the comfortable environment where there is the big park which is famous for Japanese pine, and Mount Fuji is seen over a park from the second floor of the building.
Following a renovation of Atelier(=Vision)in 2003 and the extension of Gallery(=Vision+) in 2010, we refurbish Atelier this time. While responding occasional requests in this continuous design act, the coherent design theme is succeeded.
Houses built on a highland overlooking mountains in the south. While each housing unit is sufficiently large for a single woman, specific parts inside are compact, thus creating both a feeling of security and a sense of openness. More specifically, two opposite kinds of space coexist in each housing unit. The first kind is the open “exterior room” with a wide opening, whereas the second type is the closed “interior room” with no window facing outside.
The existing building built along a trunk road in a suburban city, had been converted by ourselves from a jewelry shop into the hairdressers 7 years ago. This time the client asked us to extend the floor area and change the facade to a more inviting design. Therefore we designed the extension by introducing a subtle element, which works in the same way as a veil changes a person’s facial expression.
