Casa Maca in Yucatán, México by Workshop, Diseño y Construcción

Saturday, September 10th, 2022

Article source: Workshop, Diseño y Construcción

Located a few steps from one of the most emblematic avenues of the city of Mérida, Casa Maca is a historic former residence from the Porfiriato era. Visitors are transported to the past, where they are easily captivated by the vitality of the structure’s colors and textures.

After removing any damaged finishings during restoration, the excellent quality of workmanship with which the original walls were built is easy to appreciate. The original, freshly exposed stone masonry was preserved and framed by lightly colored moldings, as though they are their own works of art.

Article source: Taller Estilo Arquitectura S. de R. L. de C. V.

In scarce 122 square meters Casa Momoto is developed making reference in each of its details to the bird which the house is named after; the mayan blue, the neutral elements like a canvas for the color pallete in the plumage and the simplicity of its habitat.

The heart of the space is a small pool that envelops the bedrooms and the common areas, making a reminiscence of the cenotes in the peninsula.

Hogsons Smoked House in Yucatan, Mexico by R79

Wednesday, April 29th, 2020

Article source: R79

With several years of path and delighting the most demanding palates in Yucatan, GLaR decided to start a new gastronomic adventure, on the same steaky line but this time with a new approach, resulting from traveling and the enthusiasm for Texan cooking.

The first step was finding the perfect place, so after months of search, it was found, a little jewel in a quiet area in the north of the city. It was suspended on time; the past owner was an old lady with a particular taste in gardening. This was the triggering point: the lush vegetation.

The Ixi’im Restaurant in Yucatán, Mexico by Central de Proyectos SCP

Tuesday, April 17th, 2018

Article source: Central de Proyectos SCP

The Ixi’im Restaurant comprises the re-use of the engine house of an old henequen farm, whose productive splendor in the second half of the 19th century and subsequent decline in the second half of the 20th century has generated new uses for our built cultural heritage. The site consists of several independent structures, including the engine room, which shape the public space or main square. A north – south axis connects, since its original use, the main set of the hacienda with other nearby settlements. The proposal starts by establishing a pause in this circulation through a subtle threshold that contains virtually the space of access to ruin. Referring to the original activity and its industrial elements, the intervention strategy is materialized in a large metallic enclosure that weaves, through the preexisting building, the new architectural program. This articulating frame, whose internal offset liberates the existing walls from structural responsibility, generates a new interstitial space of dialogue between heritage and intervention. At the same time, it allows the filtering of indirect natural light, thermally confining the interior and supporting the display of the largest collection of crafted liquors in the country. Produced by the last active rope factory in Yucatan, the suspended henequén strings in the interior, besides their acoustic function, they witness the material that gave origin to the building. The spatial sequence allows the visitor to transit between epochs, finishing in the contemporary addition, whose physical and visual integration with the main square and its components closes a cycle of respect and belonging.

El Palmar in Yucatán, Mexico by Davidcervera

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Article source: Davidcervera

The palmar, is a project of a summer house, located in the Port of Chuburna Yucatan Mexico. With a very small program since it only has a room kitchen living area and swimming pool.just 90 scuare meters. As a first objective we thought to locate the house at the bottom of the land to the south side as in the adjacent houses (in the whole context) the houses are crisscrossed to the front and leave the backyard unused. In this case it was invested to leave to the front of the house the palm trees that were in the place. Also they are in the north air, better lighting ventilation and visuals. It is a simple scheme of 3 spaces looking to the north a semi-open terrace, a living area with kitchen that extends the space with an outside terrace that approximates to the palm trees and integrates with the piscine.y the bedroom a little more private to the east .
