In recent years, Dali has become the best architectural practice site for designers to express themselves due to its generous temperament, its unique geographical environment provides designers with a brand new way of thinking. Born here is the happiness of locals, staying here is the desire of outsiders.
The name of the hotel “Change Vacation Hotel” came from a poem of Tao Yuan-Ming, who was a poet in Song Dynasty. «Ah, homeward bound I go! »: “The farmers will come and tell me that spring is here and there will be work to do at the western farm.”
Tao Yuan-Ming’s idyllic life with freedom and no worries is the client’s original intention to establish this hotel. The client wants to create an inn where they can talk and drink with the guests from different places.

THE PINCH is a library and community center in Shuanghe Village, Yunnan Province, China. The project is part of a government led reconstruction effort after an earthquake in Sept 2012. The majority of village houses were destroyed, leaving the residents living in tents for up to one year. After the earthquake the government has sponsored new concrete and brick houses and a large central plaza. During the first site visit, the houses remained incomplete and the plaza was a large empty site.
