Article source: REFRESH*DESIGN

Searching for a sustainable alternative to the urban sprawl, REFRESH* has developed a model of infill-development that sensitively increases density of urban areas, which is branded ‘my gardenhouse’. Located in a Brisbane inner-city suburb, this project is an example of how such a gardenhouse has transformed the often unutilised backyard into a multi-generational home to cater for different life stages.

Article source: Li Yizhong Interior Design

In 2014, we were required to design a villa located at Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan district, Guangdong Province, China. Client Mr. Xu is a Teochew, who is from Chaoshan Teoswa where is the linguistic and cultural region in the east of Guangdong, China that is developing into a single metropolis. As we know, most Teochew people like design in malacosoma rich, bronze color and other heavy fine wood carvings, decorated in a warm atmosphere, which might not incompatible with our philosophy. Even more, Mr. Xu had already have one design plan which was being under pre-construction. He complaint that he was not that satisfied with that previous design. At the beginning, we were worried that he might not that into our design, but he indicated ‘modern’ was actually what he was looking for.

The design project of an apartment in Moscow, near the Alexeevskaya metro station with the total area of 90.2 sq.m was carried out for the young family with 6-year-old child. Our customers have been living in Sweden for a long time, so that they wanted the interior of the new Moscow apartment to be made in a modern sleek Scandinavian style.

The living room and the dining hall are one room. At the window we placed a dining table made of solid Suara saw cut on the black metal legs. Two lamps, that are located above it provide its functional coverage. This table we deliver from Indonesia ourselves.

Casa Okumè in Turin, Italy by raimondo guidacci architetto

Friday, November 4th, 2016

Article source: raimondo guidacci architetto

“The subject of the recovery of low buildings positioned inside courtyards certainly represents an interesting opportunity to rethink the recovery of existing buildings (mostly with artisan destination), aimed at the processing of the same in new residential buildings with spatial characteristics compared to those of the classic urban apartment. In this specific case, the intervention concerned, not only to recover the residential purposes of old carpentry, but also the realization of a small workshop and two parking spaces in place of the existing external storage. The main building consists essentially of two volumes: a first volume covered in black metal and slats in okumè wood; a second volume, resting on the first, and completely covered with titanium zinc. A girder continuous completely black iron frames the first volume, extending even to demarcate the volume of the lab and placed parking perpendicular to the first. A slender iron pergola covers the terrace resuming scanning of the underlying structure.”

ANI VILLAS in Anguilla, British West Indies by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership

Friday, November 4th, 2016

Article source: Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership

Ani Villas, two modern luxury villas of 3,000-4,000 square feet each, reside on a 1 ½ acre plot that slopes up to a sheer, stone promontory, overlooking Little Bay to the west on Anguilla’s north coast.  They include soaring indoor-outdoor living spaces with breathtaking views of the sea and the sky.  Each villa has four bedrooms with a detached office/guest area, and site amenities include a tennis court, a viewing pavilion and a cliff-top pool and deck area.  The white, modern structures – a series of stacked rectangular layers, forming subtly ascending levels and varying sized balconies and infilled with glass – are like a beacon atop the cliff and position themselves within the tradition of tropical modern architecture.

Eaton Mews North in London, England by Roselind Wilson Design

Friday, November 4th, 2016

Article source: Roselind Wilson Design

Eaton Mews North is a 1,700 square foot mews house located in Belgravia and arranged over four floors. Roselind Wilson Design was appointed as the interior architect to redevelop the structural interior layouts, furniture layouts and design of the kitchen, bathrooms and all interior finishes and details including doors, skirtings, joinery, architectural and decorative lighting, the staircase and all wall finishes. In keeping with the client’s brief to develop something that is unique, the look is undoubtedly layered with focus on textured fabrics and finishes and the striking use of battered and aged bronzes with bleached floors and textured timbers set against polished and honed marbles with exquisite veining and textured tiles with understated wall papers to create a subtle sense of glamour. The palette was very textural with bronzes, beiges, taupes and chocolates being the foundation colours with slight accents of green tones. The use of these tones allows for a calming sense of luxury with no brutal features that dominate the space.
